Kottke has brought a lot of love to the Internet. We are all warmed by the special way he has of looking at the world. I think we owe him a debt of gratitude. Criticizing him for looking at the simpler things in life, like the taking of showers an the making of popcorn, is just uncalled for.

To me the word 'kottke' has always been synonymous with 'let's poke fun at self-centered blogger' although that may be because I hang out here too much =)

Anyway, aside from who he is or what he's done, I can't believe anyone should be above ridicule. If someone is such a great citizen/Netizen then a few jokes should slide right off them without any problems.

I thought it was a fun post. Not because it makes fun of some guy, but because it makes fun of the stupid fad for describing every tediously obvious thing ever as a "hack" in an attempt to sell computer geeks your book. Go to Amazon and search for "hacks".

The fact that it was Kottke that inspired the post was probably because his use of the fad turned it from an easy target to a deliciously easy target.

Yeah, I would add on to the pileon saying look -- kottke's good at times, much like BB is good at times and MeFi is good at times and...

Well, isn't the whole point of this wide diversified landscape that we can go and challenge each other's ideas, engage in dialogue? Sometimes people get too big for their britches and need to be brought down a notch or two. I expect that, and if it's not there, hell, I'll bring it myself. I think leaving certain "bloggers" (yech) in some kind of protective bubble is just weird.. they want to get on the soapbox and shout, they get the chance to be hit with the tomato much like anyone else.

Having said that, this was enh funny. Kinda.. I liked the point, and wish it hadn't been deleted, but enh, somebody will come up with a snazzier one and it will survive..
