How do I make posts that don't start with a link? October 31, 2005 7:02 PM   Subscribe

Of all the posts I've made, I've yet to figure out how to make posts that don't start with a link, where the main link begins further into the post (example). I once tried opening with a closed-anchor tag, but no luck. What's in the secret sauce?

Leave the "URL" field blank.

Just don't put anything into the first two fields in the "post a new link" form - instead, type everything in the "description" field, including your links as necessary.

Or, like he said.

The top two fields are optional. I thought it said that somewhere on the posting page.

Hmmmmm.... I've left the URL blank before and the submission page returns an error. I'll try it again some time.

Alex, don't you know that we all voted to never allow you to post without starting your FPP with a link? You're just lucky you're not y2karl. You think he wants to do that small text stuff?

Looks like it's happened a few times but Matt's cleaned up.

I never realized it was optional, until I saw someone the other day start their post with "Newsfilter", unlinked.
