Congratz.

Honestly, it really creeps me out when geeks refer to their children as 'Me 2.0'.

Don't have the link to the thread but I think CB is Peeg's roommate and comes in on the same IP? Either way, he was reinstated almost immediately after being banned in the PG incident.

I can attest to the difficulty of a project like that. Congrats jonson. She's a cutie.

I'll put $10 on deleted in the next 20 minutes.

thanks everyone! I can't claim too much of the credit on this one (other than following the advice from the askMe thread quite rigorously), but I absolutely will attest to the fact that this is a project. Unfortunately, the project is just beggining and will likely carry on for a number of years. Thanks again for the kind thoughts, hopefully little Emerson will get her father's sense of humor without her father's meanspiritedness.
posted by jonson at 10:35 AM on December 19, 2005

Emerson? Is that really her name? Cool. And congratulations.

How come I can't find the original AxMe thread? Was it deleted for some reason?

Oh, yeah, and congratulations, jonson!
posted by MrMoonPie at 10:43 AM on December 19, 2005

because there was no original thread, MrMoonPie, I just made it up. S'why I linked to an image of it rather than the thread itself. And yes, Gator, she's Emerson, although we're gonna call her Emma. And the pugs will look after her.
posted by jonson at 10:56 AM on December 19, 2005

Ah ha, I figured that thread was fake (see category: birds and bees). I so smaaaart.

Indeed, though one will have less free time during daylight hours, one gains many hours of awakeness during normal sleeping time... which will bring mastery of the (completely sober) 3am FPP.

posted by LeeJay at 1:30 PM on December 19, 2005

Sure it's a project. It's just out of the embryonic phase and into infancy. Initial release has received positive feedback, but there's lots of all-nighters likely if continued success is to be nurtured, and even then the product specs eventually might not conform to initial requirements specification. But with the right investment and configuration management, no reason it shouldn't mature into a valuable contribution to the organization's portfolio. It's a high-risk strategy, but it might just work.

Congratulations!

I was just guessing the date on the faked axeme, not to worry. But I suspect quonsar's faked advice would be remarkably similar to what the real q would have offered if I'd have asked.

I like how the baby was conceived with the misuse of AskMe, born to a misuse of Projects and now a thread of just chatter. If it's posted to Metafilter the circle will be complete.

Perhaps one day in the far off future, baby Emerson's passing will warrant a simple "." on the blue, followed by user# 16,003,248,012 asking what the period means in obituary threads.

CONGRATS!!!

I have been waiting and waiting for some kind of announcement - R went way past her due date, didn't she?? Wow, what a cutie. And I love the Lake & Palmer suggestion - now you'll just have to have 2 more... (Might want to wait to bring that up to R, though.)

Congrats again, and FABULOUS use of MeFi projects, methinks.

Love from Auntie Widdershins ~

Now that God has answered my one prayer and you are a parent, I am besieging heaven with my next request. Oh let her be full-on, to-the-max little girl in all the little girl glory possible! Why? Because I will pay money to see home videos of you lying your belly playing My Little Pony or whatever the equivalent is in 2-3 years time (probably 2, she's advanced!). If she wants you to give the ponies funny voices, I don't know if I will be able to contain my glee. R and I can work out an arrangement to get me the video. Mrs. offmylawn and I are so happy for you. The offmylawn progeny and I already have running joke where we point at our palms and say in low but audible voices, "Look at that guy. He doesn't know how to hold a baby!"

I was right about to josh the person talking about Emerson's death and eventual meta ".", then I realized the poster was her father. I will donate $1 towards her metafilter new member subscription with hopes that she develops into a good ole' metafilter right winger.
