AskMe Errors January 12, 2006 10:52 AM Subscribe
What just happened to AskMefi? For about five minutes all the insides had the "nothing to see here" page or a strange error page. Anyone else? I thought my work had finally gotten around to banning it. I started working on my resume...
It was scary. Another minute and I woud've started crying.

Matt's doing some plumbing this morning. Just a brief water shutoff, probably.

It's weird how it shows answers on the front page but there isn't anything inside. There isn't anything inside.

Matt added the code that lets users see the reason for deletion on AskMe.

Not nearly as scary as MetaChat's case of the jruns.

I'll preempt the next Metatalk question, "Matt where can we see deleted posts?"

Ok, I'm done, things should be back to normal.
Two things required quick re-writes of much of the code: timezone support across ask mefi and the deleted reasons showing up. I also added the open new links thing, but everything should be back to normal now.
If you spot any weird CF errors today, be sure and post them here so I can fix them quick.

So you're saying that MeTa and AskMe threads will now be deleted like MeFi, and not retconned into nothingness?

Thank you for maknig these long requested changes. A series of smaller changes that lead to more consistency and ease of use. Cheers.

Look for post numbers out of sequence and fill in the gaps. There's a post #30685 and a #30863, so #30864 must have been deleted. You could use this to find any old deleted posts, assuming they're still in the database. I'm to lazy to check that assumption. I'll leave it as an exercise for others.

I'm trying to mark a comment as the best answer in this thread: http://ask.metafilter.com/mefi/27731
and I'm getting this error:
posted by bshort at 12:55 PM on January 12, 2006
and I'm getting this error:
Error Executing Database Query. And yes, I've cleared my cookies and logged back in, and I still get the same error.
[Macromedia][SQLServer JDBC Driver][SQLServer]Procedure 'askmeficomments' expects parameter '@timezone', which was not supplied.

OK, I wasn't tooo lazy to look for myself a little bit. There are both "Nothing to see here" threads with no comments and "This post was deleted for the following reason" threads with comments. I don't know what is the difference.
(And anonymous questions are numbered out of sequence. And "Previous questions" paging won't go farther back than February 17 of last year.)
