AskMe Homework Guidelines March 25, 2006 8:52 PM   Subscribe

I have an AskMe question, and I want to be sure that it's not breaking the "no homework on MeFi" convention. [mi]

There's a lot of material about the beginnings of Batman's career, and there's even more about his clumsy beginnings and then even more about Batman in peak form. The Dark Knight Returns even covers a resurrection of the cape and cowl.
Are there any Batman comics dealing with the wane of his days and/or the actual retirement?

It's mostly out of interest, but I may end up working it into a personality analysis paper.

Maybe.

I should probably use "even more" less in the actual question.

I would like to know the answer to this question. So, I'll ask my comic book friends. You, however, should post it.

Ask it, it sounds fascinating.

It's fine. I think the homework issue is "Don't take a question that is on your homework assignment and Ask Metafilter instead of answering it yourself" using Ask Metafilter to find sources for doing homework is usually fine.

Batman Beyond, both comic and cartoon, deals with student Terry McGinnis taking over the cowl from a long-since-retired Bruce Wayne, who pitches in his detective's experience from the safety of the Batcave.

There was a timeline at some point in DC history where Bruce retired and married Selina Kyle (Catwoman). I think that was nixed in Crisis on Infinite Earths.

Before that, there were several stories from the "alien of the month" period of the 50s where Bruce would watch his son, Batman Jr., woop ass on some Joker Jr. or somebody, but I don't think any of those stories were even considered canon enough to wipe out in Crisis.

question is up, so go answer over there.

might be best to close this thread, though.

Doing research for schoolwork is completely different than having us do your schoolwork. Ask away.

homework.metafilter.com?

Hell, I'd check it out every now and then.

The general guideline is that if you're taking an original idea or quote from someone you have to cite it. The divide between 'original idea' and not-an-original-idea is of course a very fuzzy one. I, for one, would not want to be in a position where I'd have to cite a random internet discussion group poster in a 'serious' essay.
