Oh my goodness. Projects is teal now. Lovely, isn't it?

Ack, the teal! it borrrrrres!

The red was one of those things where it looked cool visually, but trying to actually read the page was an exercise in aggravation.
posted by delmoi at 12:21 AM on April 17, 2006

No, boo and hiss.

FREE THE RED!

I know the hideous yellow links are a mefi staple, but I'd rather see them go than that brilliant red tone I came to love so quickly then lost so suddenly.

FREE THE RED! FREE THE RED! FREE THE RED!

Ok, bedtime now.

I like it. It makes sense; it is for posts that are not quite blue and not quite green. Seems an obvious choice in retrospect.
posted by geekyguy at 12:41 AM on April 17, 2006

"Not quite green"? In what way is Projects even close to Ask MetaFilter? I want to be on record in as many places as possible saying how much I liked the red.
posted by nthdegx at 12:52 AM on April 17, 2006

I much prefer the teal. The red upset me. YMMV.

I agree with what delmoi said; I think the page looked rather neat, but gave me a huge headache actually trying to browse. I'm much more likely to poke my head into the projects from time to time now.

I'm kind of torn. I like both background colors. The yellow links on the red background _were_ kind of harsh, but the white text seems a bit more readable on red than on teal.

I'd be fine with either one, actually.
posted by Malor at 1:37 AM on April 17, 2006

Oh, and for posterity, I think the original red (before it was darkened up) should be preserved at pain.metafilter.com.
posted by Malor at 1:44 AM on April 17, 2006

I like the teal. The red was sort of BAM IN YOUR FACE YEAH THIS IS PROJECTS WHATCHA GONNA DO ABOUT IT PUNK, while the teal is more "Oh, jolly good. Have a seat and a cup of tea in these lovely and uber-hip Vario teacups, and let me tell you about my new project, if you don't mind."
posted by dirtynumbangelboy at 1:54 AM on April 17, 2006

I thought the 'tweaked' red was better than the first red. I don't mind teal. I like both. But I think, in terms of keeping consistency in MeFi's site lingo, "the teal" sounds clunkier when compared to "the blue", "the green" and "the brown".

Well, given that I wanted to call Projects "TellMe", which Matt poopooed, at least now I can be annoying and refer to it as "TealMe".

MePro?

Look, there's only one real solution to this.

Oh don't be modest Stav, you could always be annoying.

I knew that was coming, you bastard you.
posted by stavrosthewonderchicken at 4:20 AM on April 17, 2006

I liked the red too.
posted by yeoz at 5:42 AM on April 17, 2006

Don't bother with those pansy-ass stripes. A flashing background is clearly the way to go.
posted by nebulawindphone at 5:42 AM on April 17, 2006

The address bar icon is still red, if you miss that kind of thing.
posted by plinth at 6:35 AM on April 17, 2006

d'oh.

The favicon has been changed. I think you just have to update your bookmark.
posted by Roger Dodger at 6:35 AM on April 17, 2006

And the background colour for the header is still red (behind the header images). Although I can't say I think that's going to keep too many people awake at night.

It makes my eyes hurt.
posted by crunchland at 7:06 AM on April 17, 2006

This looks like it's written on a chalkboard. Which is acutally kinda cool. Switch the font to Comic Sans and the look will be complete. ;)
posted by kindall at 7:27 AM on April 17, 2006

I'm just wondering if the official name for the color is "teal". That is, the main page is called "The Blue" by all the cool kids.. is projects "The Teal" or what?

Also, why not call it MeProjects, which fits better with "mefi", "askmefi" and "metatalk" in addition to having a cute pun on "myprojects".
posted by about_time at 7:27 AM on April 17, 2006

Because 'MeProjects' sounds like something a pirate with a peg leg would say?

Yarrr, vote for MeProjects or be keel-hauled

Switch the font to Comic Sans

You're a good guy, kindall. I'd hate to have to hurt you. So how's about you just ixnay on the omiccay anssay.

I, for one, plan to call it the #2D5A5A.
posted by danb at 7:39 AM on April 17, 2006

I like the teal, but the purple text of a clicked-on link is pretty much impossible to read.
posted by amro at 7:51 AM on April 17, 2006

I much prefer the teal.
posted by languagehat at 8:23 AM on April 17, 2006

amro - purple? The link colours should follow the same scheme as the other MeFi sites.

What OS and browser are you on? Sounds like a buggette for Matt.
posted by NinjaTadpole at 8:51 AM on April 17, 2006

Teal is for bad bridesmaid dresses, but it is easier to read.
posted by justgary at 8:54 AM on April 17, 2006

Hmm, I suspected it might be a bug, since no one else has mentioned it. I'm on IE Ver. 6.0.
posted by amro at 8:55 AM on April 17, 2006

Yeah, for some reason win/IE isn't respectin' the CSS. I think it's an ordering issue that I'll fix up today.

Can we call it the Screaming Teal? ProMeJects? Profilter? Metafilterejects?
posted by blue_beetle at 9:36 AM on April 17, 2006

Two enthusiastic thumbs (and big toes, if it counts) up for the teal.
posted by aberrant at 9:58 AM on April 17, 2006

I much prefer the teal.

And by the way, I've taken to calling it, "the Projects".

It adds some street cred: Yo, I found this badass web site in the Projects, yo!
posted by popechunk at 10:07 AM on April 17, 2006

I call it "Projizzle".

Fo shizzle my nizzle, pizzle chizzle this lizzle Projizzle, beeeeee-yotch!

the teal is good.
