maybe they wanted to, but couldn't use google?

it's cute--is the artist a member?

Er, that looks more like trademark infringement than any sort of reference to the site.

What, referencing Google would be an IP violation? Huh?

I think he used the word metafilter to mean...a meta filter. It doesn't seem as if he's talking about this here site.

Also, the words he chooses to bold don't make any sense.

...the words he chooses to bold don't make any sense.

It's a secret coded message:
I Metafilter digital exactly online only thinking so glogged exact way so.

This comic feels at least five years old. How après-garde.

Doesn't seem like an intentional reference to me.

I'm more surprised to find out people actually read that comic. Its presence just causes me to turn the paper's pages faster (and I already turn 'em pretty fast in eye and Exclaim!).

I don't think I've seen the comic before, but now that I have, I'm going to second dobbs's response.

iconomy: "Also, the words he chooses to bold don't make any sense."

It gives it a DC feel. Don't you think?

Yeah. Weltschmerz is serious crap. So's M@b in NOW, though. The only good comic in any of those types of papers is, obviously, Life In Hell.
