In the MetaFilter world, of the items in category "mean spirited", this rates about a 1.0 on a 1-10 scale. I'm not even sure how a person could stand to visit MeFi for more than a few minutes if they feel this is mean spirited.

Mean spirited would be this - Either this user is a liar and is messing with us (which seems pretty obvious to me), or he's so willfully stupid that we should feel no guilt in bashing him. Either we hire someone with a brain to be the kid's parent, or we give him the tough love.

Those pictures of ex-Blossom and ex-Sabrina just sent a shudder through time and space to prevent my youngerself from ever getting it up over them. In a way, this is good, because the life today of a Blossom/Sabrina fan must be a cold and lonely one bathed in the pale glow of NotePad as they pour over the latest Blossom/Sabrina slash from 1998. Coughing, they draw the pale blue blanket over thin shoulders as they lean forward, squinting, hoping to make pixelated and often misspelled words breathe life into their hollow shell again.

To feel the sun on one's head, a presence not unlike a flowered hat, again! To feel the joy of a spell gone wrong! While I shall never know these things now because of a change in my history thanks to these pictures, I look around and know that I am better for it, like I dodged a bullet or went to my high school reunion to find all the hot girls got fat and pregnant three weeks after graduation. That sigh of relief, I feel it now. It gives me hope that maybe there is a purpose for my life now, nay there has always been. Thanks to these pictures.

Thank you, MeFi. Thank you for giving me my life back. Thank you, Sabrina, for your double chin. Thank you, Blossom, for whatever that horse did to your face.

Thank you.

Yeah, I seriously had a crush on McNichol. When I heard about Little Darlings, I became very, um, "overheated". Lessee, that was my sophomore year in high school.

In fact, looking at her photo, I think that McNichol was a big part of the archetype I internalized as the feminine ideal—cute, girl-next-door, etc. I was an adult when Wonder Years aired, but boy-oh-boy Danica McKellar hits my buttons, too. And in real life she's a mathematician! OMG!

dgaicun: holy shit, that's their kid!? These last 15 years have passed by extremely quickly for me; there's a number of little babies who became near-adults while I wasn't looking. It's very strange.

jonmc: the actress who played "Simone" on Head of the Class is Khrystyne Haje. I was in my 20s when that show aired, but I had a serious crush on her. I really think it's she who's influenced my romantic daydreams about willowy, readheaded poets.
