Yeah exceptional kids don't have a hard enough time trying to [be] kids, they should have perfect writing style as well. It's thinking like that that gives kids complexes.Piss off. As a former 'exceptional kid' I know well what it's like to have no idea how I came across chattering to adults. Honestly I wish I'd been told more often how I could improve my writing, at that age, rather than being praised for earnestness. Then again, I take prose rather more seriously than the average, um, most everybody. :)

[My daughter said that] yes she could easily have written this and would have thrown in the “prolly” and other teen speak purely through bashfulness. She would be aware that while she writes in the “formal” voice which is heavily emphasised by the education system here, were she to participate in a discussion with adults about this she might try to “prove” she knows what she is talking about and is not just some precocious high-achiever (nerd in their speak) like this kind, so she would throw in the teen stuff for credibility. I felt that was the false note you so cleverly identified..I think this is a keen suggestion, but it doesn't satisfy me completely. My close friends and I have all had our experiences in being dubbed gifted or whathaveyou, in my case writing some of the marticulation exams Israelis write at the end of their last term of high school when I was, like you, eleven. My anecdotal findings are that precocious children are superb at emulating the jargon of wisdom and maturity, but often lag behind in actual growth. This might well be because they often have no meaningful social sphere within which to engage as they mature.
The cartoon continues, as Poochie capers about in a proactive and
outrageous fashion, including skateboarding and basketball -- both at
once.
Poochie: [hands out his hand to Scratchy for a high-five] Catch you on
the flip side, dudemeisters. [Scratchy extends his arm --
Poochie withdraws his] NOT!
Hey, kids, always recycle... [screams] to the extreme! Bust it!
[he drives away in the sunset, past the fireworks factory]
-- And thus endeth the cartoon, "The Itchy & Scratchy & Poochie Show"
Why are we picking on the 13 year old? This is really distasteful.Of course, ori has good company, because this same exact sort of irrational anger greeted the "Kaycee-Nicole" skeptics who, in an extremely similar manner, were said to be "monsters" "attacking" a poor defenseless cancer girl:

ori: Hopefully the lesson learned is that everyone else thinks you're an idiot.

You were a promising child too, ori. But what could have and should have ripened to genius has rotted, instead...

And Ori, I think you're a total jealous prick.

why do we have so much trouble trusting? ...maybe we should take the blinding light we have so strongly focused on being doubtful/judgmental/jealous/nitpicky about everyone else's lives and turn it a little more inward, look at what these thoughts say about ourselves...

insensitive buffoons...Next time I see "My [grandma/friend/livestock] just passed away..." on one of your sites, expect an email from me demanding you prove it. Then we'll see how *you* feel.

I retract my doubts about the kid's authenticity - that was unfair, and FeistyFerret, if you're reading, I apologise. This was the most fucked up thread I've ever read on this site. And FWV,VLIW my doubts are back - if the same person posted all the FeistyFerret posts in this thread, I feel sorry for that person, deeply so.) But enough time has passed that I can see the irrelevance and self-consuming ridiculousness of this whole affair. THANK FUCKING ALLAH!
