Don't know if it's been mentioned - Metafilter shows up a few times in the November edition of Yahoo Internet Life, including a six-comment snip of the original 9/11 post.

Was this the only mention? I don't have a copy of the issue, but that's the only one I found.

I haven't gotten through the whole issue, but I've seen it mentioned in the pullout guide, the article you linked, and in a side-box on page 79. The text is:

"Visitors to Metafilter.com, an online diary to which anyone can add comments, found it useful to keep one eye on the TV and one eye on the computer screen as the tragedy unfolded."

After that they show the text of the original front page post by karen, followed by comments by TNLNYC, mikewas, ColdChef, yupislyr, and ColdChef again.
