Sometimes people don't really intend to do the things that they say they are going to do in AskMe questions. Sometimes they are just stoned and wanting to talk to internet people about stupid shit, but don't want the question to get deleted as chatfilter, so they say that they are planning to do something that they would actually never do. It is a waste of what I admit is a valuable resource, but nobody actually gets hurt. However, you should be nice enough not to reveal your little white lie in the thread itself.

Ugh, that thread has been a pain in the ass all day. khmc moderated the heck out of it (12 posts?), people flagged everything, and it was just a mess. I'm not really sure why this is, but practically ever AskMe about airport security, even legitimate questions, turn into total suckfests. At least this one had the decency to start out as one.

I was serious, but turned facetious at the end. No one really answered the first question, but the second. But I was sincerely curious, then fascinated by the reaction. It was meant to be a game of sorts based on an admittedly lame act (see the original post for disclaimers).

Though I am not sorry about the political discussion, I do apologize for the snarkiness and the lie of being under house arrest. I am a benign person prone to benign actions, disappointed by the state of the world, and who is unfortunately flying around it a lot starting next week.

Why? I asked a question, disclaimed it as weak, but wanted an answer. Who answered? Instead it was a fairly raw and agressive response. The note at the bottom of the reply form on askMeFi asks people to help. That was not the response I received. I touched a nerve I did not know existed.

Because people think their stupid little opinion on the topic is somehow going to become the governing philosophy is the spew it enough. So, instead of answering the question in a factual manner, they choose to use it as an opportunity to make their opinion known through snarking or soapboxing because *their opinion* is important.

You know, disclaiming a weak question as weak doesn't somehow make it unweak. It was a weak question on a hot button topic which you overmoderated. No one's getting banned, no one's threads are getting closed, but geez it's like you haven't been around here in the last few months. Did you think that thread was going to go well?

I realize that once you've dug yourself a hole like that it can be tough to get out of, so I sympathize. However, sometimes you can ask yourself these questions in your head first and think how AskMe might respond and then save yourself the trouble of asking if you think it's not going to go well. I do this all the time.

I once heard "set" was one of the most semantically saturated words in the Anguish Languish. So "I'm in your set, setting your sets" should be valid. It's not very appealing though. So I'd go for "I'm in your website, killing your atmosphere", or if pressed, "I'm in your sight, citing your site". This last one is correct, am i rite?

"im in ur base killin ur d00dz" was a response by one gamer to another, when asked where he was in-game. It has become something of an internet meme. This phrase may have found its origins in the online game Counterstrike, as a taunt from a player on one team to players on the opposing team. Other theories suppose that origins of the phrase are much older - dating back to the late 1990s, during the heyday of online Starcraft play.
