Last-minute, snowball's-chance-in-hell Seoul minimeetup? I'm going to be in Seoul for a biz trip tonight (Friday) until Sunday... [more inside]

I'll be staying in Gangnam, near Coex, and per diems (even little ones) were meant to be spent on beer. I don't know if there are any Mefites in Seoul these days, much less any within easy travelling distance to Gangnam, but if anybody would like to head over and meet me for a few a whole bunch of drinks tonight or tomorrow night, that'd be cool.

I expect *crickets*, but you never know. I'll be travelling all afternoon, but I'll try and check this thread when I can. If there actually is anyone around and interested, maybe drop your mobile phone number inthread or to my username @ gmail.com, and I'll try and get in touch later if things don't go sideways on me.

I'm coming up from Geoje-do this weekend anyway for World Peace Through Beer. (Uhg. You might want to hit mute before following that link.) Beers from all around the world, gathering in one place = yummy.

You name the venue. We're staying in Myeongdong but hell, the subway is easy and taxis are cheap.

I gotta say, I'm just stunned that so many 'fites will be in Seoul at the same time. That just shows Metafilter's wide-flung reach, I guess. Also, that you people are less concerned about North Korea than I am.

Would love to, Stav., but it's really last minute dude.

(Also I make it a point to only enter Gangnam once or twice a year, and, well, I've hit my limit. Next time make it Hongdae/Sinchon/Edae)

Dude, do me a favor an' hit the temple across the street from Coex - it's my favorite & it would do me a power of good to think of you teetering off there post-beer.

GEOJEDO? There's a Mefite on Geojedo? Holy crap. Now I truly have seen everything.

Just got online again, and it looks like (to my embarrassment), I might not have time to meet up with anyone tonight (Saturday) -- I've got a 'work function' I'm going to have to attend, apparently, and those tend to go from dinner to drinks into the wee hours, if experience is any guide.

Sorry about that, and it's probably too late to make any plans if it falls through (which will be last minute, as always in Korea).

Next time, though, I'll try and give more notice if I'm going to be here in the big smoke.

If I can, I'll try and visit that temple (post-beer, even), though, Adam, and thanks for the pointer.

Yep, I live on Geoje. Been there?

My grandparents-in-law live there, in a tiny fishing village where there's a Nonghyup, an oceanographic research institute, and not a heck of a lot else. It's kinda idyllic, actually, in a dusty and distinctly Korean way.
