Old Sidebars December 20, 2006 1:22 PM   Subscribe

Stupid question time: Is there a way to see old sidebar entries? I apologize if this has been asked before, but I searched Yahoo! and checked the FAQ and the wiki, and found nothing. Specifically, I'm looking for a sidebarred AskMe post about gift suggestions for a strange and quirky family. Thanks!

It isn't this one, is it?

Yes: ask routergirl.

Huzzah! That's the one, routergirl; thank you muchly! But still, apart from cortex's suggestion (wiseguy), I wonder if there's a way to see a sidebar archive. If not, then consider it a pony request.

Yeah, I would be interested to see what was sidebar worthy over the years.

Looks like it's been asked about before, no answer at the time.

And, ooh, then there was this, which pointed to this, but those "new links" don't seem to be around anymore.

Is it already stupid question time? Man, the day really flew by!

It says it's powered by blogger, so there should be a blog out there, right?

The feed for the sideblog is, I think here

http://www.metafilter.com/atom.xml

but I'm not sure what the direct address is for the sideblog, blogger just publishes it to metafilter.com/index.html and mathowie does some mojo magic to squish it into the sideblog.

That's very Zen.

Disclaimer: I only knew the link he was looking for because I'd favorited it. Not to, you know, dispel any "Oooh, routergirl's the sidebar expert" awe or anything. Awe is always welcome, even when undeserved.

Can awe be undeserved, routergirl?

Can't anything be undeserved?

After thinking on it a while, I believe you're right, routergirl. Since it's people who do the assigning of meaning or who offer their awe, and people can and do botch any activity they engage in, tout à fait, people can and must worship false idols, and prostrate themselves wrongly, and do other dumb things. We can't help ourselves.

What the... I distinctly remember looking at at plain-text archive of old sidebar entries about a month or two ago, but can no longer find the link. I thought I had bookmarked or favourited at least a few of them, but can't find any proof of that.

Kinda odd.
