I think you may understand the purposes and intentions of Metatalk, or at least have overestimated the latitude of meaning in the phrase "Metafilter-related".
A whole spinoff site was created to siphon off aimless chat from Metatalk (and though it is quite successful in its own right, it may not have accomplished that aim all that well, it seems). posted by stavrosthewonderchicken at 12:18 AM on January 12, 2007
So you may or may not realize this, but that thread's still as open as [insert name of young female pop star/actress/ heiress]'s private regions. FYI. posted by Item at 12:21 AM on January 12, 2007

My back hurts. Why? posted by liquorice at 1:00 AM on January 12, 2007
Also. I decided to add starvos as one of my "contacts". I thought you should all know. I accidentally made him a "crush", though, and he was supposed to be my "muse".
well, that's what I want you to think! *evil cackle* posted by liquorice at 1:02 AM on January 12, 2007
I've always wondered how far back the average Metafilterer is willing to read and if they really pay attention to new comments in threads a couple of days old. Would there be further discussion on stuff like Little Mosque on the Prairie, or is multi day discourse mainly endemic to threads about fundamentalist/evangelical Christianity and its crazy doings? I know I've wanted to comment on old stuff... maybe I just should go ahead and do it. Maybe I am doing Metafilter all wrong. posted by Mister Cheese at 1:17 AM on January 12, 2007
Since before it was official and put on the menu and everything, the My Comments page is the very first place I hit when I visit the site. For those who are more interested in the conversation than the links, or equally so at least, nothing else makes a damn lick of sense! It's automagically delicious! posted by stavrosthewonderchicken at 1:39 AM on January 12, 2007
I do that too...I started doing it because for some reason, when I start typing 'metafilter' in the firefox address bar, the first autocomplete option IS for My Comments. I decided the universe just approved of this behaviour, but how do they actually arrange the autocomplete order? posted by jacalata at 1:47 AM on January 12, 2007
Holy monkeys, I didn't know you could do that! Man, maybe I should click on the other stuff up there... I guess no matter how long you've lurked prior to becoming a five dollar n00b, there are just some things you can't understand about Metafilter until you actually become a five dollar n00b and start asking questions. posted by Mister Cheese at 1:59 AM on January 12, 2007

It are Johnny not, Jerry not, are even Joey no. It it Straightener and PeterMcDermott are. TRUE! Not know talking what about I am, do you? posted by flapjax at midnite at 3:40 AM on January 12, 2007
It's Jihad Jack. posted by liquorice at 3:52 AM on January 12, 2007
I just load up my old comments and read through them, chuckling ever so slightly as I do. Then, sometimes, I come across something truly breath-taking and my mouse wavers hesitantly over the [ + ] symbol as I contemplate favoriting one of my own comments. But by then the Kraft Dinner is usually at a boil and I'm forced to leave my literary masterpieces for a culinary one. posted by The God Complex at 3:59 AM on January 12, 2007
I was so close to favoriting that one I let out the softest of gasps before I withdrew my anger fingers from the mouse. posted by The God Complex at 4:01 AM on January 12, 2007
Yes, I meant to type "anger fingers". It's trademarked. posted by The God Complex at 4:02 AM on January 12, 2007
I've just trademarked the phrase 'It's trademarked™'.
This thread clearly demonstrates that you don't need a ceiling cat to equal the obnoxiousosity of the days before Matt banned the image tag. Keep up the good work, yeomen. posted by Dave Faris at 5:25 AM on January 12, 2007
You, my good man, as near as I can tell thanks to my limited exposure to your important internet opinions, are almost completely full of shit. But I think I love you. Will you be my swell textual pal, and swap cynical dismissals of other people with me until the sun sinks into the wine dark sea? posted by stavrosthewonderchicken at 5:30 AM on January 12, 2007
Keep it on MeFi, in the open thread, thanks. posted by mathowie at 5:34 AM on January 12, 2007
