Sidebar: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 years ago... 6, 7? I mean, I can type it in manually, but I figured I'd suggest it and see if enough people want it. And I'm not saying to go on indefinitely, could turn into "1, 2, 3, 5, 10, 15 years ago" over time, as per mathowie's decendants' wishes.

Oh yeah, and the ticketstub project thing is still there. And we're missing a null selection "please choose a category" which causes erroneous bug reports that are not bug reports.
posted by Eideteker at 10:48 AM on January 15, 2007

But, but, but, this is a bug report.
posted by Plutor at 10:54 AM on January 15, 2007

Also, the n-years-ago feature isn't a great way to find previous years' MLK days, since it's just the third Monday of January.

Corrected links: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 years ago.

Oh, right, I always forget I'm the only one who celebrates on the actual birthday of the man.

I'm not willing to discuss this issue with you until you bring me a stack of pancakes and hookers.
posted by loquacious at 11:06 AM on January 15, 2007

Which issue? The sidebar? Or the outdated MeTa categories?
posted by Eideteker at 11:11 AM on January 15, 2007

He needs to know, loquacious. Stacking pancakes on top of hookers is almost as hard as stacking hookers on top of pancakes, so it's got to be an effort worth going to.

I don't know, after five years spelled out, It doesn't make much sense and I can pass over that whole 1999 "mathowie posts every single link aside from self links by some other nerd" era

I'm recalled of the time I was pancaked between two hookers.

By the way, loq, I wouldn't trust Eideteker's stack, anyway. There may be a pancake on top, but after that, it's hookers all the way down. Well, until you get to the turtle.
posted by koeselitz at 11:32 AM on January 15, 2007

Wha-what's after the turtle!?

*begins quaking uncontrollably with The Fear*

I am going to need so much therapy after this thread, I just know it.

"as per mathowie's decendants' wishes."

MeFi dies with him in a viking funeral pyre! (The servers will be stacked upon his recumbant bike and set ablaze!)

And thus my psychology degree pays for itself. ker-ching!

And frankly, I wouldn't trust Eideteker's stack either. That sounds nothing like the OSI model or RFCs 793 and 1180.

MeFi (seven years ago): posted by mathowie - 0 comments

But I too would like to see this. What, we can't have a little innocent fun rambling in the more innocent past?

I can dig Matt's reservation. Mefi didn't really start feeling like Mefi until after it had been around for a while. Early 2000 it was still growing its first pubes.

a.k.a. The Golden Age of MetaFilter

What age are we in now? The Golden Elephant Showers of Metafilter?
posted by loquacious at 1:09 PM on January 15, 2007

I'm guessing it's either the Middle Ages or the Dark Ages, loquacious, and maybe, just maybe, it's both.

For the first time, IRFH bombs. Film at 11.

And this is the Ice Age of MetaFilter.

Man, no one seemed to appreciate my s00per 1337 epic nerd joke. I'm just going to have to favorite myself.

If you keep doing that in public, you'll never get invited to parties.

Man, I make parties. You're the one with the unstable stack.

Cruising back through that era, tension building as one approaches the Shimmering Veil Singularity that is Thread 19, though, has a certain charm to it.

Stav, you know perfectly well that the current physical models of the universe don't even try to describe MeFi before Thread 19.

I just find it mildly disturbing that the grand triumphal arrival of MetaFilter was heralded by a link to a website CliffyB made about putting cats on scanners.
