This is not something we should do. Regardless of our belief system, asking the group how to break the law is not the intended purpose of AskMe.

While I understand many of the emotions in play in the thread, I think a dangerous ground is being examined here, a precedent that should not be set.

Jesus, stop it. Just stop calling for other folks' questions to be deleted. At face value, which is how you should take simple questions like this, they're asking for folks to explain why it's a bad idea.

Basically, you're asking for the legitimate question to be deleted because you don't like the way some folks are answering.

Leave Dagobert alone, dammit. Metatalk is meant to be a place where former grade-school tattletales can come to relive their childhoods.

No, I am asking for the post in question to be deleted because the basic premise of the question is an illegal action.

"I am asking for the post in question to be deleted because the basic premise of the question is an illegal action."

Right, you're snitching, informing, tattling.

Dagobert, the person is asking "Please explaine why this is a very bad idea..." and people are doing a good job of that.

That's ludicrous. So it's forbidden to discuss illegal actions in AskMe, even when the asker is not advocating or planning the illegal action and is explicitly asking for advice on why the illegal action that someone else is planning is a bad idea?

Please articulate your underlying theory for this proposition; it will be interesting to peek inside your mind.

Dagobert, the key point that makes your callout a terrible one iis that you are deciding not to give the poster any benefit of the doubt, even after the poster clearly states, "Please explain why this is a very bad idea..."

That's bad form. It's rude to the fellow member. It's unnecessary. Again, please stop calling for other member's questions to be deleted when there is room for the benefit of the doubt about their intentions.

I have made a mistake an I apologize for this.

I was reading more into the question than was asked.

I will try not to do this in the future.

Actually, having looked at the question, I think dagobert's problem is just a basic problem with reading comprehension.

Read the question again, dagobert, and show us where the asker is (as you accuse them of doing), "asking the group how to break the law." Show us, please.

Well, damn, that was gracious.

[seriously, to Dagobert]

Matt, as I am clearly in the wrong here, please feel free to delete this thread at your leisure.

Or not. It could stand as an example to others.

I think we've all learned something here.

Precisely what, I can't say.

That's not true. The rule is not against breaking the law, but asking illegal questions, in other words asking questions that Matt thinks could get him in legal trouble.

Also the question is not about breaking the law, but how to convince someone not to break it.

It could stand as an example to others of how to graciously advise of a change in thinking. Well played sir.

Which is why I thought the question was a troll.

Why is aiding and abetting a felon across an international border in a way that the cast of Porky's would find too obvious a bad idea?

Really? You need to go to the interwebs for the answer to that one?

Ok, I'll close it. Thanks for coming around on it.
