You know, live radio has been crying non-stop for the last half hour, mister. Words hurt.

OMG famous! This is better than the time I was Time's entity of the year! Fuck yea! If MetaFilter gets any more famous I won't need this stupid MetaFilter anymore!

You know who else mentioned Metafilter? Hitler. Apparently, Mein Kampf was supposed to be printed in blue but the original publisher felt that it would detract from the otherwise light-hearted nature of manuscript.

True story.

The passage "The "Tiny Machine" showed up on Metafilter, a community website whose tens of thousands of members share links and discuss interesting sites. That's where Gary Stein saw it (what user?). He was working as an online advertising analyst for Jupiter Research at the time and wrote about it on his blog."

I'm willing to flame out but not until I reach my 2000th comment on the blue... So if you really want me to flame out, post things about my pet passions... Milwaukee, books and anything book related, Milwaukee indie rock bands circa 2001-2007, Buy Local programs, marriage, computer cleaning, or the lameness of television news.

You know what sucks? Milwaukee. It's like everyone who lives in South-East Wisconsin is insane. Probably criminally so.

I blame the weather.

Though it's actually quite nice out today.

drezdn, are you for or against Buy Local programs?

Here's the visual for people who like visuals.

I really hate the title of the book. Citizen Marketers. Gak.

THAT’S IT

I’m gonna circumcise every cat in my neighborhood, and then send them all to Iraq, to fight for our rights as patriots, because that’s what GOD wants me to do. And I know I’m right and all of you people are idiots, and…

FOR THE RECORD I don’t have a persecution complex that’s just what all the people who are out to get me say!

Cortex, Cortex, Cortex...

Blandthony represents everything that's dark and wrong about the American dream (which is odd considering his Canadian status). Here's a many who forced his careerist wife to have a child so that he could have the thrills of Simalac powder when she just wanted to get her real estate on.

Here was a man who refused to trim his mustache despite his wife's claims that it was tickling her in a bad way.

Here was a man who convinced his "friend" to help stage a rape, to drive Elizabeth into his arms, not to mention the fact that the man has a stuffed Farley in his attic.

That man is obsessed with that family, and he must be stopped. If only Paul weren't out of the picture, he could see through those glasses to the serial killer heart within.

And then Lee Majors can piss on him.

really? Mat manages metafilter the entire day? I didn't realize that. Does Jessamyn do that too?

Using 'Search Inside' at Amazon.com -- here's the mention.
posted by ericb at 2:54 PM on March 22, 2007

BTW -- you can click on the 'from Front Matter' hyperlink -- which will require you to 'sign in' to your Amazon account -- and you'll be able to see the page in the Amazon Reader app.

iconomy linked to a visual of the mention which is easier than that Amazon thingie. But what is a citizen marketer? (Amazon details there) Seems "we" are free advertising, word of mouth and maybe a cheap substitute for focus groups to boot.

quonsar: you know who else mentioned metahitler?

Am I the only one who periodically googles for MetaHitler and goes to metahitler.com, .org, .net, .etc hoping to find something there to make a "MetaHitler" single word post on MetaFilter?

Really? The only one? Oh...

One 3 AM I even thought of posting this, but there's only so far I'll go for a cheap joke... now... if I'm ever severely inebriated at three in the morning and think of it... all bets are off.

Ooh, look at this! "Another use of edge filtration is typified by the "Metafilter," which has been successfully applied to clarification problems... This type of metafilter employs strips piled up face to face in a frame." From A Practical Manual of Chemical Engineering, by Harold Tongue (1939). Figure 265 shows The Metafilter, but unfortunately GoogleBooks only gives you the snippet view, so you can't see it. Bastards!

It's impossible to walk into a bar and order a nice cold refreshing Bud...

You've got as much chance of successfully ordering chicken-fried fried unicorn steak as you do of ordering a "nice, refreshing" Bud.

YFBS!

It's not in Mwongozie's list, but the odious* Karyn Bosnak, previously discussed here and here, mentions her mention in mefi on page 341 of her book (which I bought used at the Temple Bar book market).

*Not only because she was doing the online equivalent of a crackhead shoving his/her cup in one's face, but also because she procured for reality TV and called a gay man who was ostensibly her friend "homo" to his face (claiming it was a cutesy acronym).

afu--
...in the spirit of TFD (Total Frigging Derail), my idea of a "cold refreshing Bud" is to buy a can of that swill, dump the contents on the ground, poke holes in the can to make a pipe, and fill it with some real bud.
Nice!
Refreshing!
