Craig Thomas (R-WY) to serve as Zombie Senator June 5, 2007 3:42 AM   Subscribe

Though his death was noted yesterday in the blue, the last paragraph of today's NYT obituary suggests that his role as Senator may not be over: "When Senator Johnson fell ill last year, there was speculation that the Democrats could lose the two-vote margin by which they had just won control of the Senate a month earlier. But he is preparing to return to the Senate soon."

This Senator Johnson is a MeFi member? Is being dead cause for getting a star when you continue posting? Or would you be given an eternal timeout?

Even if this wasn't born of confusion, you'd most definitely want to put it in the existing open thread rather than start a MeTa. What's the difference between this follow-up and the tire reef follow-up below, you ask? The original tire reef thread is closed. If you've got some following-up to post, and the original thread is still open, please to be doing so in the original thread.

I'm dying to know how this is remotely metafilter related.

Everything is meta. This kind of fails the -filter test, though.

So Johnson is still upright and standing?

Wait, what, I'm confused as hell, which is normal, but the content is new.

Zombie Senators from Wyoming, their eyes pale white, their arms outstretched in front of them, are lurching and staggering across the gray. This is terrifying.

I don't know if it's just the fever talking or what but I'm pretty sure this doesn't make sense. The occasional follow-up to an older and/or high-profile discussion over here is okay, but this'd be pretty minor trivia even if it was an actual weird AP goof.

So, yeah, what carsonb said.
