Huh, as I'm going through these, I'm noticing a lot of cats, and dogs, which I kinda expected. A surprising number of Mexican wrestling masks, which I didn't.
And some weird sorts of coincidental similarities: viewofdelft and vistaothers look like they could be a before/ after pictures. quietfish and I look like we stole each others idea (only because of proximity, I know there were other mirror project type pictures in the list). And then there is Stynxno and stavrosthewonderchicken's giant hats.
Though I suppose with any sufficiently long list of random images, pattern matching will connect things that seem similar but have absolutely no connections.

Well, I'm not zaftig but I'm not exactly a stick (although I was for the first 19 years of my life). I am definitely curvy.
And it's funny how many people hear my voice & think I'm a black woman. Which I'm not. Well, on the outside, anyhow.
It's funny though... people who've known me for years didn't want to come & see me sing when I first started. They just didn't imagine I'd be any good & they didn't want to have to tell me I was bad. It kind of sucked because I didn't have much support in the beginning. So there's always a routine when someone who knows me from somewhere else hears me sing for the first time. At first they look a bit scared. Then I start singing. And there's this frozen look of "Huh? Wait a minute." And then they usually tilt their head & start looking confused. I'm told that's when they're thinking, "Wait. Where does that voice fit in with her speaking voice? She does not look like she would sing that way." Totally freaks them out. And then they slowly get a look of relief, start to relax and actually begin to listen. And then a lot of them will start doing the "I'm friends with the singer" thing. It's funny.
Not that I've been singing much lately.

Perhaps I will update my profile to include a picture of myself. I was initially coy on this matter, as I felt the knowledge that not only am I more interesting, rich in life experience and intellectually superior to the run-of-the-mill Internet peon, but further I broadcast raw raunch of a scale-defying power, would perhaps be too much for the servers and fragile egos to bear. Yeah, soooo... I was asked to do a gig at the Claremont Hotel, right? And then I realized that the pianist was clueless on a variety of levels. Not only did he play over my melody line (NO NO NO!) but he wanted me to learn 19 songs for one gig (WTF? Someone's smoking crack. Plus many of the songs were ones that are horrifically overdone which is why I don't do them. I am not a Sweeney sister, tyvm.) and then wouldn't make plans to rehearse. So I had to quit because if there's going to be a musical trainwreck going on in a five star hotel, I would rather not be the center of it. No thank you. I really wanted the gig, but not if it was going to be a nightmare.
So then I got frustrated and just stopped singing at all for a while. But I'm psyching myself to remember how to do it again. Leaving my band in LA just really messed up my comfort zones. I miss my old musicians, 'cuz they kick ass and always made me look good. I just haven't found the right musicians in the Bay area yet, but I miss music so I need to.
Sometimes I just feel like it's better to not do something you love than to do it badly and not love it. Y'know?

I had a profile picture but then got rid of it. Two reasons why I did so:
1) I often use my profile page as a launching point - to track threads and comments, old faves etc. It looks like an innocent enough page as it is but with a big picture of myself there it made it a bit awkward to have the page up when other people are around.
2) This thread. I realized that while all matt did is make an interesting and accessible list, I could imagine more users using this batch of photos as a source of "mash-ups" or whatever. I'm not really interested in that.
You can still see photos of me. You just have to click an extra link when you get to my profile page.
