is there a quantifiable reason for the increase in traffic over the last couple of days? ie a mainstream article linking to mefi? or is it just people back in the office after the holidays and not doing work again?

I fixed it.

I wish I could figure out the traffic source too.

Matt, for a while, the weird preemie doll site was bouncing people right back to the Metafilter front page they came from. (It doesn't seem to be now.) Would that be enough to account for the symptoms?
