Photos from last night's Wellington meetup.

No one brought a camera, so I had to use my phone. Fun was had.

This Wellington Meetup?

Yes, that Wellington meetup!

Keen. I ask because it's in the "upcoming" section of my sidebar. Silly old international date line. This is a day for time machines, and the Mighty Mighty looks lovely dark and deep.

You should make that a Flickr set, so that the pics are more easily discretely linked to from the original meetup thread.

"Photos from last night's Wellington meetup."

Which, due to date line issues, is actually "tomorrow", right?

This must also be why the date on these photos is Smarch 3rd.

You have blown my cover, Plutor. I'm actually the last of the Time Lords, hiding in the Antipodes... actually, the date shows as 20th March for me; where do you see 3rd March?

The meetup was eventually held at Murphy's, a (to coin a phrase) bog-standard faux Irish joint still littered with the St Pat's day decorations. (There was unfortunately a private function up at Mighty Mighty, which is my fave Wellington bar ever). I arrived 6ish with a certain amount of beer inside already, owing to having had an earlier engagement, and staggered off around 10; X_00 and Infinite Jest were still going strong. A wide range of topics was discussed with the staggering yet edifying erudition that typifies the down-under Mefite. We also drank beer, except for ambilevous, who is A Lady, and took white wine instead.

It's 9 AM and I need a nap already.

Willie was killed in a furnace explosion in the school's basement on the thirteenth hour of the thirteenth day of the thirteen month (that thirteenth month being "Smarch" due to misprinted calendars) and burned to death while the parents of the students (in a meeting Marge says was called to deal with the issue of the misprinted calendars) looked on and did nothing.

Thanks i_am_joe's_spleen for the photos and ambilevous for organising it.

Great to meet you Simon and see you again Peter.

Metafilter: still my favourite place on the internet, even after all these years.

Ah, My first shoutout. From Murphy's of all places. It seems like only yesterday they told me to get the hell out and never return.

It was a dd/mm/yyyy joke. The "19/3" in the upper-right corner looks like the third day of the 19th month to American eyes. Smarch is one possible name for the 19th month. Febtober and Octember probably would have been equally acceptable.

Apologies for the confusion.
