Archived? It's still there on the front page and there's no indication it was ever deleted.

That thread seems fine to me. Is the text box not showing for you?
posted by lekvar at 12:00 PM on April 9, 2008

correct! No txt box, AND it says: "This thread has been archived"

STRANGE must be ghosts

I also see no evidence of archival.

Perhaps the subconscious part of your brain is using latent telekinetic powers to cause the semiconductors in your computer's memory unit to spontaneously change into a state where the HTML rendered on your monitor shows the thread in the way you describe, due to some primal need deep inside your brain structure for threads about technological food delivery systems to be prematurely archived.

Also, you might want to try clearing your cookies and turning off GreaseMonkey.

clearly, you've been banned.
except you are posting in meta.
therefore, i would assume its a bad cookie.
delete all metafilter cookies and log back in.

No, that's a new feature. Banned people can still post in MetaTalk in case they have any questions about why they were banned.

"Dude" is a great word and you should be proud to be referred to as such.

Being born and raised in the valley and starting nearly every comment Dude, I felt the urge to go off on KokuRyu.

Then I saw his profile and realized he translates "Unbeatable Bansuke." How fucking cool is that?

There are so many mistakes in the previous comment that I just don't want to bother with a correction. Let's just assume you know what I mean, dude.

KokuRyu writes "Pony request: can users who use the word 'dude' be banned?"

No way, Dude is like one of the few words that when used repeatedly can solely comprise a complete conversation.

Doesn't it though? And (dersins and a few other loyalists will understand me) the first news story I saw after 8:30 this morning was this. How's that for a smile from the universe at large?

Did my taxes today. Turns out my casualty loss (stupid car accident, uninsured motorist) wasn't quite big enough to beat the personal deduction. Bastards.

Hey now! It took a lot more than a timezone advantage. It took getting up betimes (as Pepys would say) and getting breakfast down me and coffee made before thread closure, and then—with just the one tab, mind you, none of your effete "twelve tabs at once" tricks—hitting "Post Comment" at exactly the right moment. It's sort of like making a catch right at the wall; sure, it looks easy when you do it right, but you go out there and try it and see how you like the concussion. Thread closure is serious business.
