Whenever I visit the green front page I see that there are x number of new questions and y number of new comments. Is there somewhere I can click to see ONLY the new stuff that has arrived since I last visited?

Profuse apologies if this is obvious or mentioned elsewhere or stupid.... but I don't read all of askmefi or the grey or the blue. I like to skim the intros looking for interesting things but seldom commit to read the entire thing so the colour change thing doesn't work for me. If it's a greasemonkey solution... I'm going to need extreme handholding. I have greasemonkey but have no clue what it does or how to use the scripts. It's all.. um, er... monkeylatin to me. Thanks in advance, and again, apologies if it's a ridiculous question (I promise I tried to search faq etc).

To my knowledge there is no magic "show me the new shit" link. But...

The (2 new) is a link to the new answers since your last visit, or since you last read the answers of that particular question.

Plan B would be to look at the timestamp in the posts/questions and compare that to when you last visited. Everything since your last visit would be new.

I find it quite easy to read the green page and when I come to questions that I've read before I know that I've caught up!

Sorry, snarky, silly. I know you want the new comments, not just the new questions. But still, it's just a question of going through and seeing the "new comments" tally. My apologies for the patronising exclamation mark.

Try subscribing to the RSS feeds of the threads you're interested in, using Google Reader. It'll do that magical thing of only showing you the stuff you haven't read yet, and alerting you when new stuff is there. And if you set it to only show unread feeds as well as unread comments, it'll effectively remove old threads when they die out.

Isn't there a firefox extension that adds a line across the page showing where the new/old questions break?
