Wow, at least 35 posts on Jan 16th. Is this a record breaker? I haven't seen the front page so active since around September.

I've always wondered if there were any other admins other than Matt

If I had a job, I'd need extra help, but today I didn't do a whole lot of freelance work and basically hung out on the site all day.

I count 36 on the 15th, which seemed like the first busy news day in a while.

I spent more time on 'Talk' than 'Filter' yesterday for the first time. You are now preaching to the converted.

Bigger isn't necessarily better. Recently, more and more front page posts are (to my mind) Fark material, not worthy of community attention at MetaFilter.

There's also alot of FPP duplication going on lately, too, it seems. (Dave Thomas thread, etc.)

I agree with Carol Anne & briank: the occasional diversionary threads like the jokes and the first rock and roll thread lighten things up, but may have created the idea that MetaFilter is a chat room, links be dammned. And a double post like this one, whose very link was used 5 1/2 hours earlier in a comment on the same subject makes me wonder if folks read MetaFilter or just want to post something.
