It's instant gratification, instant self-indulgence, instant celebrity, instantly YOU. Share your life stream...

what happened to quonsar?

He left, and good riddance to him.

I've been a quonsar fan, supporter, defender, and apologist several times in the past, but I just three days ago deleted him (and konolia) as a contact as a direct result of the unrelenting shrill anti-abortion screeds they both spew at any appropriate or inappropriate moment, and I would have put them both on a killfile if I could have.

After six and a half years as a member (and two as a lurker), I understand that quonsar has gone through some pretty heavy shit, and has had a lot of demons to bear. I had high hopes that his religion would help him with his problems, but instead it only seemed to make the old quonsar personality lash out in "religious" ways. It was beyond tiresome, it was destroying my enjoyment, not just of the site, but of a member who I had respected for years and years.

I thought I would never get tired of quonsar's bullshit. In the end, I did.

Closing your account isn't really closing your account in any meaningful or permanent way. All you have to do is request to have it opened and you're in business again. It's common for prolific members of metafilter to close their account and cause much consternation. The large majority of these accounts are reopened; sometimes in the matter of a week.

This is a feature.

How many times is this now that big q has retired from metafilter? I'm sure everyone will be very welcoming when he decides to come back.

So did you delete him just before he left, or did he leave just after you deleted him? If the latter, it seems a bit redundant given that he'd gone.

Not that I care either way. I barely even noticed his posts for some peculiar reason.
