The Namesake Horrorshow: Just how horrible is your namesake's blog? Mine is awful, baseball-mad and is severely indicator-disabled. As this weren't enough, this Miguel Cardoso doppelganger also comes up first on Google.

Still, I bet mine is not as bad as yours...

If you drank everytime someone said "Carol Anne," you'd be wasted in about 20 minutes. Oh, my goodness.

This guy may be a 3rd or 4th cousin--he grew up in Buffalo, and I know my aunt Estelle writes to relatives there--my father was born in Galicia in Poland and from what I've seen from the American Family Immigration History Center, a lot of the Poles with my last name seem to have come from there. I used to write for The Rocket here in Seattle--when I called him once, the other Karl, he told me people sometimes ask him if he's me. Since I get the same thing from people online from time to time, in reverse, it's only fair. He's #1 in Google but my show's counter gets more hits than his home page's--heh heh. On the other hand, he is employed, sigh...

few are named after me, so i have to go with things that are vaguely related. an anime-crazy girl. a peace corps volunteer. dreama. when one person writes about "moz", they shockingly mean me! and i'm just so happy google archived the link just so.

next thing you know, all the fly girls will carve my name into their arms with fountain pens.

There used to be an encyclopedic "Matthew Baldwin's Meg Ryan" page. It's gone now, but back when it was active I always enjoyed urging casual aquaintances to check out "my" page, just to see how they treated me the next time we crossed paths (e.g., "So, uh, hey Matt, boy I bet you loved Kate & Leopold, huh?").

No bloggers with my name, but my self-googling did turn up a surprising number of Jon McNally's ; a news photographer, a student at the University of Dayton, and some guy in San Francisco who's active in something called a "Celtic Soccer Club" and a session musician named "Larry Jon McNally." Not to mention there's an op-ed parody at the Onion with a fictional yuppie-type guy named Jon McNally as the author, which creeps me out a bit, makes me think someone at the onion might know me and be tweaking me for some slight back in high-school or something.
So, thanks a lot MIguel, now I'm up to my ass in doppelgangers.

I would really hate to be anyone against whom an Onion writer held a grudge.

Given that my first and last name correspond to the first names, respectively, of our former president and the wife of his vice president, googling on my name -- even as a contiguous phrase -- produces not so much people who share it but instead results like this one.

For some reason I'm picturing Schwarzenegger or Stallone uttering that line in an action movie, and chomping a cigar while explosions go off in the background and doppelgangers wreak havoc in Los Angeles.
