Sometimes the ads really are the best thing on AskMe

Been doing some webdev stuff today and had to clear out my cookies. Thus having been exposed to the adverts on Askme for the first time in a while I noticed that today's anon-relationship-Askme brought up a banner for a cheating oriented dating service.

Please in the name of all that is still good about *filter do not block this ad.

Seriously. It makes relationship filter worth reading.

That's funny. I read Playboy for the ads.

Wait, what?

I never thought that this could happen to me but...

I found this ad amusing, as it was what you would have seen in this thread when not logged in.

I read Playboy for the ads.

I download porn for the "the people in this video were of legal age in the place this was filmed" warnings at the beginning.

No way is Rachel 41.

You're reading it wrong. She's the 41st Rachel.

I'm Gabriel and I'm proud. Seriously.

She's the 41st Rachel.

No, no, she's Rachel the XLI ("Rachel the Coy"), Principessa of Datelonia.

I only read ads for the pornography.

People still browse the net without AdblockPlus and the mvps.org hosts file? That must be a bit grim.

I accidentally browsed the web using IE 7 the other day and my newspaper's site spent like 30 seconds doing crazy stuff on the screen to try and make me look at ads.

That's your own damn fault for having IE7 accessible anywhere on your desktop/quick menu/start menu. I have no sympathy for you.

Friends don't let friends browse with MSIE.

You're reading it wrong. She's the 41st Rachel.

She's an experiment. Nothing more.

I accidentally browsed the web the other day after ingesting several poison dart frogs and after the walls stopped bleeding, I realized that the advertisements I was reading were not actually edicts from the dark masters to eat my own body-weight in cheese.

Which is a shame, because I think I could do it, and I've really been craving sharp cheddar.

I guess the moral of this story is that blood soaked walls really date a house and give it a mid '80s feel.

Seltzer soaked walls will get that dark master residue right out.

Indeed. My reaction to this post was "Metafilter has ads?"

I don't use any blocking. I avoid sites whose ads annoy me, and if the ads aren't annoying me I'm not noting them.
