PS3 gamer group? January 6, 2009 4:57 PM   Subscribe

PS3 owning MeFites...anyone play EndWar? Wanna play? Or any other ps3 game for that matter?

I have no friends w/ PS3's, or friends who like the RTS genre. I have EndWar, love it, but suck at it horribly. I'm not even actually sure how to add folks to my friends list or w/e, but I'd like to try.

MeMail me or post here or whatever!

I just got one, and would love to know more about how to use the damned thing. So far all I have is resistance II.

I was wondering if there was some Twitter keyword we could all agree on for time sensitive but trivial hook-ups. No one would need to add infinite numbers of mefites to twitter, but just track the keyword.

E.g. MeFiPing Call of Duty 4, Jan 8 6pm GMT, gamertag: Hell Interface.

mefiping.metafilter.com could even be set up to track all such updates. No reason it'd need to be used only for games.

E.g. MeFiPing impromptu beer, The Red Lion, Stoke Newington in 20 mins. Mine's a bitter shandy.

Any way, I don't often use my PS3, TomMelee, but if you have Warhawk or Little Big Planet I'm up for it.

My PSN nick: Hell_Interface
And while I'm at it, my 360 gametag: Hell Interface.

(Hell Interface are a band. I'm not mental).

There are a handful of usernames on the wiki. Might be worth adding yours to the list!

I like the idea of having a quick way to ping MeFi users, though.

see also http://www.mefightclub.com for this kinda thing.

I've looked around mefight, but I couldn't really find anything for PS3. The original thread seemed to scorn console gamers, so I kind of gave up on it.

I've got a bunch of games, but I really only ever play Call of Duty 4. I don't do twitter though, but feel free to look me up. I'm Ghidorah5000 on psn. If you want to send a friend request, make sure to put something in there about being from MeFi, because I usually ignore random friend requests.

I've also got Little Big Planet, GTA 4, and Orange Box, but I haven't played them all that much.

I got EndWar as a Christmas present, but I'm not anywhere near good enough to play it online. Yet.

Come meet me on the Resistance 2 servers though, and I'll show you what's what. And I picked up Burnout Paradise on the cheap yesterday... I'd probably be interested in a few races online, fo' so'.

Username is the same as my Metafilter ID (small 'e' though), if anyone wants to add me as a friend.

I like Metal Gear Online and Wipeout. PSN: Grobsetin. Stupid proprietary MGO name: Grobstein.

I didn't like the reviews of EndWar, though a voice-controlled RTS sounds like a killer idea.

Then come back, be sociable, and start a thread, for goodness sakes. Don't be shy! Though we're PC diehards for the most part, many of the people there are multiplatform gamers, and there was much talk about various games on various consoles when those various games were released. With more than 400 people registered there, you're almost certain to find somebody to play with.

"With more than 400 people registered there, you're almost certain to find somebody to play with."

For PS3 EndWar, I don't think that's true.

Sorry, stavros, I looked around a bit, but there were a couple MeTa threads about MeFight that seemed pretty anti-console, so I never checked it out. I'll give it another try. Thanks for the headsup.

MeFight is definitely heavily leaning towards those who play TF2 on a PC, but it also has a ton of people who have consoles and play games other than TF2, I definitely second Stavros' suggestion to give it another try, just throw a comment into the introduction post stating what you did here, and I'm sure you'll get at least a few takers!

BTW, my PSN is Grither, same as here, but I don't have Endwar... just Warhawk, LBP, Burnout Paradise, Orange Box, and a couple other non-online games I believe...

Haha looks like MeFight is being true to form to your introduction Ghidorah, sorry!

Hah, Mefight sorta shut down for a while when GTA4 came out.

New 'Console Gaming' category created at the site, current Xbox Gamertag thing thread in progress, PS3 one presumably to come since Ghidorah is back in the Mefight Clubhouse. All is well.

Uh, Stavros, I'm not exactly sure on how to start up new discussions/threads/whatever there. I'm all for starting up a thread for PSN, I just don't know where/how to do it.

I'm only asking here (in MeTa, of all places) because it feels like a kinder, gentler place to get information. If you can help me, I'd be glad to try to set up the PSN thread.

Hangs head in shame. Goes to play CoD 4. Found the big "Start discussion" button.

Ghidorah, we're about a million times less fighty (name of the group notwithstanding -- that's just a pun on 'MeFite') over there than things sometimes get here in Metatalk, don't worry! There's a big 'Start a new discussion' button on the top left of the site. Press it and go nuts. Just select the brand spanking new 'Console Gaming' category I just made today, add a title for the thread and the first post in the appropriate boxes, and presto-bango. It's a message board, not a blog like Mefi, so starting conversations about whatever you like (within reason) is totally OK.
