Music pony request - make the MefiMusic home page not crash my browser. :(

Flash 10, Firefox 3, Debian 5.0.1, but the real problem is that my machine is over ten years old and wasn't that beefy then. Too many little flash players on one page just brings the browser crashing down. Individual music pages are ok, but the Music home page is not.

If it were possible to opt not to see the flash players on the home page, this would fix it. Similarly, if I could set how many recent posts I could see on the Music home page, this would also fix it, though I'd probably miss a lot of posts.

In the meantime I'm looking at trying to fiddle with adblock to just block the player on that page alone, but it's a pain, especially as I want the same player to work on individual post pages.

Any other suggestions for workarounds gratefully received.

NoScript does that.

Flashblock should also work.

It's your future... I see a cab ride. Move out of the sticks, gentleman.

There there, 6550.

Does the player pre-fetch data? I remember the podcasts page making IE shudder a bit, but that could have just been IE.

Noscript is a hammer to crack a nut here, as it breaks lots of the rest of the site.

I'll have a look at Flashblock.
