Yep. Some of these had caught my eye earlier in the week, but I just talked to raisindebt this morning and went hunting for a couple more short tracks to fill out the mix.

The podcast has been great for keeping me a little more regularly engaged with Music when I'm not putting something up myself, but it's also made me realize that there's too damn much good stuff even to fit into this sort of format. Crazy wealth of music showing up on the site weekly.

Thanks for keeping this going. Metafilter just gets better and better. Some of my favorite new music in the last year has been from MeFiMusic, and the podcast is just so cool. This sort of thing has the potential to play a key part in the creation of a new model for music distribution (for lack of a better word).

Thanks so much to cortex specifically for the fun conversation and to everyone at MeFiMu for being so welcoming (and posting so much cool stuff of their own, as heard in the podcast). I would also like to note, mostly so Steve Albini doesn't come find me and kill me in my sleep, that the opinion that I express of the Electrical Audio Forums in the interview is based on a distorted half-memory that after finishing the interview I realized isn't really true at all (maybe I was thinking of Songfight? although that's just starting another (song) fight, so I'll shut up about it, I think). Great interview! Every song in this podcast is great. I'm super excited about raisindebt posting. I also hope this keeps going. So many people I want to hear interviewed.

I still think the interviewee playing a song live on the podcast would be really neat, if the mic set up allows for it.

Nice variety of tracks this week. You need to start interviewin' people older than I am. All these "oh yeah, I wrote another song in a creative dream-like state" twenty year olds are making me feel seriously unaccomplished.

I see the music podcast has its own designation now -- is it a Metafilter Fixture now?

I really, really love this podcast. Regrettably, I'm not very hooked into Mefi Music, in part because of my wonky connection at work and in part because I have to find ways to force myself not to be on here ALL THE TIME, so this the perfect way to still get to hear at least a little bit of the great music folks are producing. Yeah, there's a ton of stuff going up, but just because there's too much doesn't mean you should stop doing these.

Yeah, I didn't mean to be like dramatic "oh no there is too much music i cannot do teh podcasts" or anything. I've really enjoyed putting them together so far and totally intend to keep at it.

Just a roundabout way of saying, sheeit, there's a lot of good music to be had. I Should Have Such Problems, as my grandmother might say.

Yeah, I dunno, dersins. I can't settle on whether it makes more sense to make the blurb sort of clear about agency or to get all hyper-comfy and be like "I I I" or what. I guess it seems sort of stilted the way it is right now.

I believe it should be showing up in the normal podcast feed for the time being. We might tweak that in the long run, but for the moment it's just an "off-week" episode of the podcast as far as the system is concerned.

I really like the format of having the interview in one block instead of splitting it out between songs. It is really good in terms of continuity for the interview and, in my opinion, it's also better to have several songs in a row, uninterrupted. If one is expected to vote, I would vote to keep that format.

And raisindebt was a great choice. He is really fucking good, isn't he? The two songs he has posted sound like instant classics for the site.
