Small sized pony request: Any way we can get the (x New comments) thing added to the ten meetup pages?

Sure, we can add that in the next couple days sometime.

Since we're asking for 10th ponies, it would be awesome if the "Older/Newer" links at the bottom of the page went to the older and newer entries per event, rather than to the next 10th thread.

Oh, and could we have he #attending displayed somewhere in the meetup thread for each city? It would be nice to have all the relevant information in one place.
posted by Alison at 11:09 AM on May 17, 2009

The problem with that Alison is that there are several threads per location, and some locations (London, New Orleans) are having multiple meetups. So the attending list won't make sense displayed in some of those threads. I think it's ok to have the attending list a click away.

A small pony is a Shetland or Sheltie.

Small Shetland: Could we bring my best friend back to life? Cool. Thanks. He died of Cancer in 2001. Awesome. I love you sexist racist bastards.

n_o_d: Nice. New potential sock puppet/band name: Geburtstagpony.

Elmore: Reincarnation is not possible since the Great Hackening. Should have asked last year.

I have not gotten my first nine yet, and I hope that they will arrive soon; my polo team is waiting on me, and they are not very patient.

I have eaten
the ponies
that were in
the boxcar

and which
you were probably
saving
for polo.

Forgive me
they were delicious
so sweet
and so equine.

Think when we talk of horses, that you see them printing their proud hoofs... I don't think we do actually talk of horses.

The first song is about a bus; it's a noisy, raucous, rather ... vulgar? Yes, almost vulgar, I suppose, but we like it, and it helps us to get the pitch of the hall.

*breathless*

What? My ears were burning so I came running in? Was someone looking for me?

Oh. I see.

Never mind.

quin, you misheard: he said "heartless evil baby eating demon fucker," not "heartless evil demon eating baby fucker." We'll let you know when we need you; you can go right back to parboiling hellspawn or whatever it was you were doing.

Hooray! Thanks for the new comments pony, pb!

No problem! Since we haven't been tracking last visit time at ten I set an arbitrary time of two days ago for your first "last visit". So the first counts you'll see on the site will be more inaccurate than usual unless you happened to visit exactly two days ago. Confusing, I know, but at least you'll get a sense of newer comments. The counts should get a little more accurate on your next visit.

Also fixed up the older/newer links so they're pointing to threads within a location instead of across all locations. Let me know if you spot problems with these.

Currently we can only mark one location "maybe".

May we have multiple maybes please?
posted by ardgedee at 8:51 AM on May 21, 2009

Sorry, no multiple maybes ardgedee. We want folks to commit to their most likely meetup so organizers have somewhat realistic numbers to work with. If you're really on the fence about a meetup, commit to the most likely and leave a "I might be going, but I've used my maybe" note into the planning threads for any others you're considering.

What happens in this thread now that ponies have been granted?

Xylophones become the topic of discussion.

Yes, that seems to be the most proper course of action, klang.

It seems to me like xylophonists always do the "hold two mallets per hand" thing, so why don't they just make two-headed mallets? TIA
posted by Rock Steady at 2:20 PM on May 21, 2009

Because the distance between the mallet heads varies considerably over the course of most four mallet pieces. Holding two mallets is the easy part, it's adjusting the intervals that makes it so difficult.

And because nobody else jumped on it: Zamboni. *jazz hands*

Oh, that makes perfect sense, actually. [ANTI-ALPHABETIST]

'Cuz our xylophone goes two ways at once.

Yes, it does.
