Philadelphia's Pre-10th-Anniversary-Meetup Meetup.

So the main event will be at Vietnam on Sunday, June 21 at 7pm. We'll chat, slurp noodles and maybe we'll even go ahead and get some of the planning done for the 10th Anniversary Meetup! Anyone interested in checking out my garden and apartment - the current proposed 10th Anniversary Meetup Spot - is welcome to tag along and check it out. I live a block away from Vietnam. So, to recap: Vietnam (just below 11th and Vine) 7pm June 21, 2009 Yummy Food, Good Company, Enough Nerdy Jokes to keep you going for a month, And scoping out my garden/apartment for the 10th Anniversary Meetup. Woot--I'll be there.
I just checked out their drink menu, and was really hoping to see some alcoholic version of Vietnamese iced coffee, but no such luck. Guess I'll just have to work on developing my own for the 10th party in July! Kahlua+vanilla vodka+sweetened condensed milk+coffee maybe?

My both my dad and my step-dad are hundreds of miles away, Mr. Shiu's father is no longer with us, and neither of us are fathers. If the pre-meetup is still on, we can still make it on the 21st, as far as I know. If Sunday is bad for a lot of folks, and people have plans for Saturday evening, maybe we could do lunch on Saturday?

To clarify: I was mostly pointing out the Father's Day thing as a service announcement, not as a request to reschedule. I definitely cannot make it on Saturday at all, so please please do not take my comment as a request for a date change.

I'm so there for the 10th anniversary meet, though. I rescheduled a damn vacation around it.

Omg so I pregamed by getting Vietnam takeout tonight, and my dog ate HALF of my house special vermicelli bowl (with added beef, cause it doesn't already feature enough ingredients with faces with: meatballs, chicken, pork and spring rolls) when I wasn't looking. So I am pretty much in full on Vermicelli fiend mode right now. AHHHHH!

I am so, so sorry, y'all -- Mr. Shiu Mai and I cannot make it. He's been laid up all day with some sort of stomach awfulness, and I really don't want to abandon him.

I will offer this once again, though, for the 10th anniversary party: we would be more than happy to contribute a smoked pork shoulder for pulled pork bbq sandwiches, which makes between 15 - 20 sandwiches. We have a prior obligation on the evening of the 18th, but right now I'm planning on a) dropping off the pork shoulder pre- our event, b) going to our event, then c) coming back to the MeFi party (I don't think our other obligation will be keeping us out late).

Anyway, let me know if that works for you. Again, I'm terribly sorry for the last-minute cancellation tonight. I really had my heart set oh pho, dammit.

shiu mai baby! We missed you (and Mr. shiu mai baby!) tonight at Vietnam. (Seriously, if you are in need of a pho fix, let me know. I seriously eat there like twice a week and will jump at any opportunity to do it more often - esp. if it means getting to hang with awesome people like you an Mr. SMB.)

We talked logistics, and I think after tonight we're ready to pull the trigger on some of the more specific bits for the big bash. So I'll let lagreen figure out how to organize it in the official thread, but your offer is lovely and I for one am looking forward to some smoked pork! Mmmm...

(Also, I think this party is planning to keep rockin' pretty late, since Casa greekphilosophy doesn't have a closing time, so come when you can!)
