Cross-posting sub-sites? June 17, 2009 12:35 PM   Subscribe

Is it ok to cross-post a music question you have posted in AskMe to Music?

I couldn't find a verdict on this by searching so I figured I'd ask in MeTa so the answer would be available for posterity.

I recently posted a question to AskMe that is musical in nature. Can I also post to Music asking the same question? Can I post to Music asking users to weigh in on the AskMe question or does it need to be a complete re-post?

I don't think that's the purpose of Music, no. I'm sure someone else will be around shortly to give you a better answer.

I assume you mean Music Talk? If you really got no answers over in AskMe, then posting on Music Talk is not a terrible idea but keep in mind it's a subset that's much lower traffic than the other parts of the site, though mucg more Music focused. And do people a favor and don't just ask people to go look at your question elsewhere but include the question and relevant information in your Music Talk question as well. Music Talk is for a lot of things and isn't specifically a Q&A site but if you think the music folks might have answers that you weren't able to find in AskMe, feel free to try it.

Yeah, I meant Music Talk. I should have specified.

Thanks for the answer! I'm starting to be pretty satisfied with the AskMe answers so I guess it's just good to know for the future.

I think as long as you sing your question, you should be fine.

All of my answers are songs.
This one is my favorite song:
Well La-de-fuckin'-da!
(Repeat)

All of my MetaTalk comments are musical. Here's one:

What might not go over so well is crossposting a mere three hours after your AskMe question was posted.

Or maybe that just me.

Go ahead and try, all they can do is ban you.
Or mock you, or give you a whiny "callout".
Or make you a meme on /b/.

I frequent that little juke joint known as Music Talk and the folks there are pretty enthusiastic about music and music related subjects. But it had BETTER be in song format or we'll blow you off like a dirty little kid with smudgy fingers who wants to touch your guitar.

Kidding, post away.

I did not even know music talk existed until today.

All my questions will be in proper form freestyle rap.
