Still bummed about that Jupiter mission, btw. December 27, 2009 6:23 PM   Subscribe

Chicago's first meetup of 2010.

January 6th, 2010 at the Billy Goat under Michigan. I'll be there drinking beer, and you should be, too. Hope everyone's holidays were/are great, but either way let's have a glass or three.

Whoo-hoo. Perhaps it will stop snowing by then.

I can make it to this one. I'll tunnel my way to the entrance if I have to!

I am in this time - I finally planned ahead far enough to keep this night free. Looking forward to it!

I should be able to make it out there for this one.

Yup.

Alas I will be out of town for this one.

Hope to be there! I passed by the Wrigley Building yesterday and could smell the burgers... mmm.

This time, I'm going to try saying that I won't come, because I've said that I would for the last two, and didn't. So I'm not coming.

But I am.

And I've got a surprise this time!

I won't be back in town 'til the 18th. Alas!

I totally forgot the Metafilter meet-ups existed for a few months, which is a sad, sad thing. I need some Meef up in my...queef.

Also, I'm back on the cute tiny baby animals (my 2010 resolution: EAT MORE PORK FAT) so I'm looking forward to actually trying one of the cheeseborgers.

Will have to fly, will try to be there for the Goat, if not festivities afterwards.

It's on my calendar. Have to see if I can skip a meeting.
Namara, I want my book back!

I'll be there.

I could use several tiny beers.

So I just got summoned to be in Chicago on the 6th. I might come depending on what time it is.

Is anyone going to the Zombie March?

My guess is SpiffyRob got his tips frosted to ring in 2010.

Whoa hey so I'm in town. What time does this thing start?
posted by Sfving at 11:14 AM on January 3, 2010

People usually start arriving about 5:30PM, I believe. I work a good distance away, so I don't get there until 6:30. We usually go until 9:30 or 10:00, sometimes later.
posted by adamdschneider at 11:36 AM on January 3, 2010

I might actually make this one!
posted by me3dia at 10:47 PM on January 4, 2010

Yeah, I'm usually there by 530 but people don't really start showing up until after 6.
posted by Windigo at 7:26 AM on January 5, 2010

I'll be there, but will not be consuming several tiny beers as promised. Also, if any of you know anything about bikes I could use some help with my rear brakes. Rode to work today and the rear brakes were not working right. Would like to get them fixed before riding home if possible.

Looks like I won't be there tonight....see ya next time, unless there's Bong excitement between now and then.
posted by Windigo at 7:24 AM on January 6, 2010

kaz, I'll be there. I'll grab some tools from work.

Sweet, bike maintenance workshop meetup!
posted by adamdschneider at 11:36 AM on January 6, 2010

hydrophonic, cool, although I think I fixed them just now. But doesn't hurt to get a second look. :)

Tiny beers here I come!

ATTENTION: we are on the right (wrong) side of the bar. I repeat, We are on The right side of the bar. Turn your head RIGHT when you come in.

Still at work, so it's looking less and less likely that I'm going to make it. Someone text me if things wrap up before 9.
posted by eamondaly at 4:21 PM on January 6, 2010

Eamon, you should really try to come. Our server us concerned. (Also my iPhone tries to correct your name as both "ramen" and "Ramone" which is hilarious)
posted by MCMikeNamara at 4:57 PM on January 6, 2010

Okay, wrapping up now. On my way. You fuckers better be worth it.
posted by eamondaly at 5:41 PM on January 6, 2010

We were SO totally worth it, and you know it, babee.

So about a half hour ago, I got off that train at Lawrence, delighted that I'd had such a great night.

And the clock said "3:56"...and, to be honest, I nearly pissed myself. Because I'd had a great time. But not a "losing a sixth of a day of a time."

And then I saw that it said P.M.

And never had post meridian made a man so happy as I realized the clock was fucked up.

So thanks to everyone for giving me a "totally worth being out until 11:56 pm" time.

And hope to see you next month, if not sooner.

Seriously, hanging out with my family for Christmas gave me lots of good karaoke ideas -- I have an iPhone note full of them - so let me know if you're up for some ill-tuned Bong time

(P.S. My earlier message which stated "Our server us concerned." makes no sense if you don't understand the typo, but it apparently got the job done, so I'm glad I made it.)

Good to see all you kind folk again even if I only got a tiny glimpse of Eamon's beard before I had to leave.

eamon - I left around 9 to catch the 9:40 train home. had I known you were en route, I'm sure I would suck around for 3 or 4 more darks and a later train.
