Spider Cartoon March 5, 2010 10:45 PM   Subscribe

Looking for a cartoon I saw posted somewhere on MetaFilter: It was a drawing of a spider and had a clever "punch line" for a caption (which I'll reveal below the fold to avoid any "spoilers," if there can be such a thing for a single-panel cartoon).

The caption read "Octopus Halloween." I'd love to find that cartoon again. Thanks!

I guess I should say that the cartoon was linked somewhere on MetaFilter, since the image was not literally posted to the site, of course.

Btw, thinking about this, I just had a 'how did i not notice this before?' moment:

Spider-man

Dr Octopus

They both have 8 legs.

DUH.

*blinks*

My mind is legitimately blown, or if not blown, lightly fluffed.

No, no, a spider has seven legs.

Octopus trick: ringing your bell & blending in with the wall by your front door.
Octopus treat: nom nom nom on your brain, through your eye sockets.

OBLIGATORY BAGPIPE JOKE PUNCHLINE OPPORTUNITY:

...And the octopus says 'Play it? I'm going to fuck it as soon as I can get its pyjamas off.'

Jofus, a college friend of mine tells that joke in such an amazing wonderful way (with, of course, the lead up of the octopus playing a guitar and a piano, accompanied by excellent thrashing octopussy hand gestures), that we demanded he tell it at every party he ever came to. It was legendary.

Yes, I did pretty much tell you about this so I'd get to use the word octopussy in a comment.

The Scorpion was another Spider-Man villain, and scorpions also have eight legs.

This teaches us that, by extension, The Tick should have been a Spider-Man villain.
