Perhaps on the preview of a post or a comment, there should be a skeleton "next comment" that would show whether one has screwed up in one's tags (whether not closing them, or inserting an extra ") Obviously, this is a response to this entry.

The problem there seem to be the quotes in the <a> tag - href=http://www.televisionwithoutpity.com/show.cgi?show=73" ">

My point is that when one previews a post or comment, there's no text below to show one has screwed up the html somehow. We get blocks of italicized, bolded, indented, etc. comments because people couldn't see that they did something wrong.

I just think having a dummy --

Next link -- this is what the next link would look like. blah blah blah blah blah

or

This is what the next comment will look like. blah blah blah blah blah

in the preview would give people a heads up.
In the last month I haven't seen a broken front page post as the browser I use isn't affected. A dummy comment to expose open tags would only be useful in some browsers. It'd catch obvious mistakes, like leaving a tag open, but I think it's better to check that server-side and be browser-independent. Scoop responds to malformed posts with,
Your HTML has the following error:
No closing tag found for opening tag gigglypuff

Awww, man, I was feeling embarassed enough about it, and now my mistake's on MetaTalk too??

But in all seriousness, that would be a nice feature to have.
