At last! I try to redeem myself by posting something actually on topic and in the right place: why is http://fraser.lewry.is.a.notalentassclown.org/ a mirror of mefi? Who is Fraser Lewry? Is he really a no-talent-ass clown? What is a member availability directory? How does it work?

matt has, in the past, mentioned that he has set up his hosting so that anything ending in .metafilter.com is redirected to the main site, www.metafilter.com. the same goes for another site of his, notalentassclown.org. i think the latter site grew out of proposed job ads on mefi?

Hello. I'm Fraser Lewry, and I'm a random pisshead. A variation of the is.a.notalentassclown.org URL showed up in my referral stats a while ago, so I inserted my own name and it still worked. I'm hoping it'll be useful in the future as a backdoor to MeFi if the server ever becomes overrrun during big news events. But I'm still not sure what an Ass Clown is...
