The IKEA Heights website looks really familiar.

(IKEA heights is apparently "a soap opera set in IKEA's Burbank store".)

My god, you're right! The color scheme bears an almost uncanny resemblance to the Ikea logo!

I'd say the colors they picked look even nicer than the rough ones used on MetaFilter.

apparently this is NOT sponsored or officially condoned by Ikea.

I just watched two episodes though and can confirm it is pretty damn funny.

Whether or not it is sponsored or condoned by Matt Haughey though is another tale.

Taking a wild guess, they wanted the blue-and-yellow scheme because, as mentioned above, it's the IKEA brand colors, but they decided to play it safe and use a different blue and yellow so as to avoid getting their butts sued off by IKEA's trademark attorneys.

Except that the blue is the wrong shade, there are no front page posts or clever user names, there are big pictures all over the page, the format is different, and I feel no obsessive need to check in on it regularly to see what changes have occurred in the past few minutes.

If IKEA made web software, can you imagine how frustrating it would be to build a website? You'd get the whole thing done except for the header, then realize you had to take it down and re-do it entirely to get the header to fit.

If MetaFilter could copyright blue-and-yellow, they'd be rich from suing every Hollywood movie made in the last 10 years.

Metafilter: High quality filtration wich prolongs efficiency

Larger particle impurities are gradually retained in a labyrinth structure as they pass along the filter wall. METAFILTER filters do not contain solvents, adhesives, surfactantcs or any other chemical compound apart from polyethylene.

Metafilter: Complies with the regulations of Food and Pharmaceutical Products.
Metafilter: Does not give off toxic substances when it burns.

Note: Everyone needs a high quality filtration wich.

That show is made by some of the dudes from Yacht Rock, another internets gem (that got super played out by people who had never even heard of Michael McDonald beforehand). I thought the first episode was fairly funny, but the concept itself of shooting a show in an IKEA is even funnier.
