Hey Ask Me: What are the most inexplicable internet videos you know of? The results? Awesome
posted by The Whelk to MetaFilter-Related at 5:09 PM (29 comments total) 8 users marked this as a favorite

I flagged it as chatfilter (mostly because of the I'll-go-first thing, and the ineffable objectivity of 'inexplicable' (then again, I suppose there was a problem to be solved (the problem being 'I want to watch some crazy videos))), but then I watched almost all of the linked videos.

So I'm a big hypocrite.

I think its a little seasonal gift that it stayed up.

I think on boxing day all the AskMe rules should be off. Want to start a poll? Is your question "Cats suck, AMIRITE?" Can't even be bothered to make up a scenario in which to insert your a link to your spamy website? Whatever. One day a year its all good.

I'm afraid to click on Effigy 2000's link.

pxe2000: it's weird and gross, but it's not in the same league of offensiveness as 2 girls 1 cup. i hope i haven't just earned a callout by someone who is offended by my small-minded description of 2g1c as offensive.

Well, I'm certainly pleased with the fruits of that question.

I posted it with the possibility in mind that it would be deleted for chatfilter, but I do think that "inexplicable" is a fairly demonstrable category of personal taste. I think it worked, too, because the replies fell along the bell curve of relevance to my idea of inexplicable in the way I'd hoped they would.

Exactly correct. I think the only really problematic chatfilter aspect of it was the "I'll go first" part. Clearly a problem to be solved and it was clear that people were answering the question in the spirit that it was asked in.

Sounds like an excellent new Boxing Day tradition! maybe minus the SEO tolerance Mods?

Yes, I think this will go over as well as the idea I am promoting that if you walk some one 4 and 0 the batter gets TWO bases.

I'm afraid to click on Effigy 2000's link.

I have to say, even being braced that it was weird and NSFW and NSFSanity, gotta say I didn't see that coming. Which makes me feel good about my current mental state.

pxe2000, yeah don't bother.

On the contrary. I highly suggest you watch it. IF YOU DARE.

Those videos are a small glimpse into my life.

Okay, so I did watch pxe2000's video because I generally push the shiny red button, and it reminded me of this, which is mildly NSFW, but mostly due to language. At least the main subject of the song is never visually featured.

The human psyche in its unplummable depths. The Whale man I get, anything is possible once you own a tripod, a room of one's own and a vision. Alexyss Tylor was interesting but her mother gamely following along, adding meaningful dialogue about the rabbit? Priceless.

But what is truly fascinating are the videos that must have been cast. How do people sign on to these projects? Is there a script or story board?

And as for Effigy 2000's find? Maybe there could be a designation stronger than NSFW. I suggest CBU (Can't Be Unseen).

I think its a little seasonal gift that it stayed up.

There have been a couple front page posts these last couple of days that have stayed up despite themselves. Links to Big Picture, outrage-filter stories about wayward snowplows. I think Cortex may be still sleeping off his Christmas nog.

Well I was going to skip the thread but after that fuss I had to go watch Effigy's. That was not anywhere near as bad as I had imagined. There are some truly, truly awful things on the internet. There are things that make 2g1c look pg13-rated in comparison.

2g1c was weak unless you've never seen Brazilian porn before.

There is a new video going around called 1 man 1 cup. Do not watch it, you have been warned.

Distracted by all the Steam sales, really. But also the site's been (at least through the weekend) pretty quiet, including volume of flagging.

You know, this time I think I'm going to take your word for that and not watch it.

Efiigy's link is perfect. Why was it made? What exactly does it mean? I mean, there's production value there. Sure the songs is bad, but... vagina dentata bad? What does that mean?

And do not watch 1M1C. It's 2G1C if there were a horrible accident during the filming. Although, it doesn't mess my brain the way some of these others do. That's some isolated guy with a webcam, a fairly common kink, and poor judgement. Lots of these are made by groups of people using money and time. They meant to make these things.

I wish there was a wiki where I could read about what's in all these NSFW/CBU videos. Because I really don't want to watch them, but do want to know what they're about.

(Which I guess is kind of weird, that I don't just watch the videos already. But I don't wanna! *squeamish*)

Effigy's link is Alien as a chick flick that ran out of funding after less than 2 minutes of film was shot. Will that do?
