Excellent. I have to fly cross-country today (and boy will my arms be tired), so this is perfect.

I have a load of time to kill before the Stockholm meet-up and I do believe this will get me in the mood!

(Also, I'm saving the podcast for my flight to Dublin on Saturday.)

I love the idea of MeFites in airports and train stations (or in the air, flapping their wings, as it were) everywhere listening to the podcast.

I too, will save the podcast until I fly on Monday.

I'm saving it for a lazy Sunday in bed. I will of course flap my arms in sympathy with those forced to travel.

I'm happy to be flying, because it means I am going home, where my lovely partner and excellent cats are. And where there is a distinct lack of hideously hot and humid weather. Oh, DC, I do not miss this about you at all! Even walking around in the evening without a jacket isn't worth the trade-off of 100-degree/90% humidity days. When I went to bed last night at midnight, it was still 87 degrees out! Ick!

Still, where is my transporter technology? Want!

*pouts*

my iTunes only shows me up to podcast #61.

So the giant storm in Chicago somehow made the CTA insane this morning, so I decided to download the podcast MP3 and did you guys know that the album cover associated with that says 'Weekly Podcast' on it or is that another one of your sick jokes.

I don't know how this happens. I read Metafilter every fucking day, several times a day and yet when I open the podcast thread I've only ever seen about 2 of the threads mentioned. Every month. Here I go again...

You get one million buttcoins. Redeeming them will cost you one cutting edge GPU per.

Right-click the podcast feed name in iTunes and hit "update podcast" to grab the latest.

mathowie, a quick quibble:

The stuff in aspirin is acetylsalicylic acid which is related to salicylic acid, or what acetylsalicylic acid metabolizes into when it works in your muscles as well as what they put into skin care products with other beta hydroxy acids.

Can we all have the Happy Birthday Polka on our birthdays?
posted by backseatpilot at 10:39 AM on June 9, 2011

I hear the Happy Birthday Polka most days. Though, to be fair, it's probably from that time my mom dropped me. (Advice for new moms: try not to drop them.)

Hey, don't rag on The Dalles! That's my ancestral homeland. Well, where my grandparents used to live.

And okay, yeah, it's kind of boring.

I will be heading to The Dalles in a few hours with the esteemed mrzarquon. I will let you know how it's holding up.

Oh, hey, thanks for the mention, but to clarify -- that availability thingo I put up on Jobs was actually for cash-money work. I have a ridiculous number of projects on the go at any one time for myself and for others that's unpaid, so I just thought I'd throw something up there to see if I could make some sweet sweet lucre...

Karmakaze, I have the same issue with iTunes. For some reason the podcast won't update despite right clicking and forcing updates (no issue with other podcasts). I'm forced to download and then drag it into iTunes.

You guys talked about Khan Academy, but you totally missed linking to the Khan Academy FPP from last week.

Suggestion for next month's music challenge: songs in the (imagined) style of mathowie.

As mentioned in the original thread, "I Go Blind" was originally written and performed by British Columbia's 54-40 and later covered by Hootie and the Blowfish.
