The suspense is killing me. WILL peter figure out his brilliant scheme to advertise, for free!, on the MetaFilter Website FrontPage will only result in a near instantaneous banning and the disabling of the juicy link he put, right there in his post, to his little pocket money generating endeavor.
OR WILL Peter realize, before he wastes everyone's time, that this post he wants to post is not going to help him one bit, in fact might negatively impact him and his fiduciary/mercantilistic interests, and so not post it and instead, take off his brand-name whatever shilling hat and sit down and actually read a little bit, even think a little bit maybe, and come to realize that his efforts would be better appreciated elsewhere...
Shouldn't be more than a couple hours, right?

Guys: at some point, all of us are the Peters Shop, or Fred who's looking for a used car.

Peters:

1. The reason you can't post yet is because, as it says in the site guidelines, you have to have commented on other people's posts a certain number of times before the site allows you to make a post of your own. This is because the moderators want to be sure that you're going to invest some time in this community as a community, rather than just making one post about your business or something and then never doing anything again.

2. Speaking of making a post about your business -- that's against the rules here. So if you joined just hoping to make a post about your shop, then....this site probably isn't going to work out for you.

To be fair, the user is "peters shop." Perhaps Peter (or Peters) wants to sell stuff, but the shop is looking for a welcoming online community in which to while away the hours while waiting for Peter(s) to sell stuff. It's a little confused about the rules, but a conversation with the mods will make things clear. No need to be rude about it.
