Hey, I recognize that tattoo… November 30, 2012 4:18 PM   Subscribe

MeFi's OwnTM Juliet Banana was recently featured in Momentum Magazine.

In addition to showing her dynamite sense of style on two wheels, the article gives a shout-out to the Tiny Fix Bike Gang, as previously seen on Projects.

(When I saw the page in the magazine I MeMailed Juliet Banana to say "hey, it's you! OK if I post it to MeTa?" She said sure thing, and hey, maybe give a plug for the Tiny Fix Bike Gang? Duly plugged.)

Lorena/Cupcake/Juliet Banana does indeed kick ass, as do all the other Tiny Fix ladies I know. Yay!

Further proof that I'm nearly as cool/interesting/nice/kind/etc as those Metafilter has made me friends with in Chicago.

What I'm saying, for the second time in MetaTalk this week, is get yer asses to a meetup if you can.

Someone in Chicago buy her a big, werid tasting beer for me. I'll owe ya.

I'm strangely charmed by the product credit for MeFite-favourite spectacles purveyor, Zenni Optical.

Congrats to Juliet Banana on a cute, uplifting feature!

Man, good thing I didn't go to any meetups when I lived in Chicago because I would totally have been the square.

The article also gives a shout out to Mefi's own bibliogrrl, who made my garter clips.

Potomac, you can follow away at @lorenacupcake for some top notch primo Twitter action. Everybody acting like they forgot about Cupcake.

Also Tiny Fix has a Twitter here, @tinyfix. It's mostly event listings for bike stuff in the MPLS/MKE/Chi area and half-ass jokes I think of on my commute. Worth following if you just like bikes even if you don't live in the Midwest. Less jokes about rap songs and Disney movies than my personal account.

If you remember my account going away because you followed the super crazy personal TMI one I eventually had to delete because it had +26K tweets of completely bonkers shit, um, that may still exist in one form or another but it's not getting brought up on Metafilter.

Also hi, guys, hi. I love you too.

I'm would create several sock puppet accounts to say YES WE AGREE MAKE CUPCAKE A RAINBOW OF GARTER BELT CLIPS but I'm pretty sure I'd get banned. (ps <3 u 2 bb)

Sorry, will follow the srs bizness account but without bringing it up too officially that old account's honesty was pretty awesome. Anyway, hipsterfriends hi-five.

More important than all of that, it was this AskMe question by Ms. Banana that inspired me to throw my own Grilled Cheese Party, and it was best party. Thanks, Juliet Banana!

Someday I will join TinyFix (even though neither my bikes or I are tiny or fixies). I like the idea of being in a bike gang. Cupcake, kudos to you. Your twitters make me smile and I look forward to running into you locking up in front of Target again. It's kind of weird that I don't run into you more often given that we live in the same neighborhood and are both obsessed with our bikes.

Ms. Cupcake is both a cutie and a sweetie.

Although the last time I was on a bike I broke my big toe, I am very much in love with your cycling style and would like to learn more about these garter clips.

Miss Cupcake is a doll and she's true to her word. And she taught me the lesson: When someone offers to share nude photographs with you, it's downright impolite to say no.

Coldchef is (maybe?) the only person in this thread who has seen me topless, and Bibliogrrl is the only one who has had me leave underwear in her bathroom.

man the entire Kitting factory saw me topless, now I feel like I should've conserved that shit

(oh wait all of flehsbot also did)

So normally I'd be a hater, but respect for anyone who can bike in Chicago. Chicago has, like... WEATHER. So hard to bike in weather.

Pffft cycling in winter - that's nothing!!!!*

From that cycling in winter link:
So on a day when the low temperature is in the low 20's, you can expect the high temperature to be in the mid 30's. That is an excellent temperature range for outdoor activities like cycling
For our metric friends, most of that range is below zero C. Clearly I have lived in California for too long, because I think it's too cold to ride if it's below 50F.

That's one cool Cupcake. Literally.

Well, that's yet another reason to wish I still lived in Chicago.

although to be fair I've already outgrown bicycling during snowstorms, past history be damned.
