We own neither Metafilter Blue nor Metafilter Yellow, but that site is in any case using neither.

Grandpa always told me close only counts in horseshoes, hand grenades, and hexadecimal colors.
posted by MCMikeNamara at 7:28 AM on December 21, 2012 [13 favorites]

Technically this could be counted as the "trade dress" aka look & feel of Metafilter, even if they're not quite using our colours. Essentially it's whether the average person would think that there's a link.

That being said, there's a million caveats and I'm not a trademark lawyer and I personally would lean towards "meh, who cares." But definitely neat!

Oh cool, a Metafilter sailing subsite! I'll complain to Jessamyn about any trouble I have with it!

I have it on good authority that this is a Metafilter spinoff. In a groundbreaking renewable energy initiative, those sailing boats are powered by hot air generated from within the comments section of posts on the blue.

Is there grog? I was told there would be grog.

Or just some rum. And sodomy. And the lash. If there's no grog.

I am both groggy and rummy, is that what you were thinking?

Lemurrhea: “That being said, there's a million caveats and I'm not a trademark lawyer and I personally would lean towards ‘meh, who cares.'”

I'm leaning that way too, but that's mostly because I don't have my sea legs yet, and all the pitching and rolling we're doing on these waves has me feeling like something in my gullet's coming back up.

The Ukranians are pissed by the way. Luckily they don't have an aircraft carrier, so Matt is safe.

Next up: Metafilter sues University of Michigan, the heartsease viola, and the paracanthurus hepatus.

And Samuel L. Jackson.

Damnit The Whelk, now I'm thinking about fried pierogi.

Technically technically, "pierogi" is (the Polish spelling of) the Polish name for the dish. A Ukrainian would call the same dish "varenyky." This instructional video shows the preferred method of consumption.

This instructional video shows the preferred method of consumption.

If this video does not show someone flinging fistfuls of vareniki into a vat of sour cream and then diving in after them like Scrooge McDuck in his money bin, then it is INACCURATE.
