Holiday Movie Club 2015 November 26, 2015 4:18 PM   Subscribe

With Ang Lee's The Ice Storm posted, we begin the 2015 edition of the Holiday Movie Club.

The planning and discussion thread is here, and I've added some movies to the sidebar "Upcoming Events." We're posting on Mondays and Fridays through December, as well as a couple of films over the (US) Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years holidays. Any film with a holiday theme, set at the holidays, or seasonally-appropriate are welcome, from shorts to made-for-TV-movies.

Please feel free to add to the schedule and post threads.

OK, so Corpse Bride was technically first, but that was a crossover.

Came to check if you're doing The Lion in Winter, greatest Christmas movie of all time. Was not disappointed!

What exactly does membership in a Fanfare club entail? I'm not clear what sets it above and beyond just talking about the movies as they come up, which it doesn't look like you need a membership to do.

Joining a club just means you'll see all posts related to that club in My FanFare. It's just a way of saying, "I'm interested in this collection of posts. Show them to me on My FanFare."

Jesus Christ, "The Ice Storm" for a "holiday" club? What's the holiday, National Open a Vein Day?

I mean, it's a truly great movie. But it makes me question my view of whether "holiday" is a positive or a negative identifier.

On that note, I nominate "Rare Exports."
