I love that I've posted enough books on fanfare that you mixed two of my posts up XD This was great and just FYI if you want more non fiction in your life, feel free to join the non-fiction club on fanfare! I try to post two books a week personally, and I welcome anyone else to post their favorite non-fiction books too! Just tag your post with non_fiction_club to get your post added to the category! Happy reading!

Alternate title for this podcast "Oh look a squirrel" which works on many levels.

if you think about it turtles were the original Steve Jobs
posted by cortex (staff) at 9:42 PM on May 9, 2019

Steve Jobs lays on his back, his belly baking in the hot sun, beating his legs, trying to turn himself over but he can't. Not without your help. But you're not helping.

That argument over how cool 152 was a virtuosic conversation about nothing. Please read for Jerry and Elaine in my inevitable Seinfeld fan fic.

So I don’t actually know the difference either but Jobs technically wore a “mock” turtleneck
posted by churl at 8:44 AM on May 10, 2019 [1 favorite]

It's a common misconception. The shirt is actually based on the neck of a mock turtle.

You could have introduced jobs with: "It's Jobs all the way down."

I don’t actually know the difference either

In a real turtleneck, it's twice as long as it needs to be and you roll the top part over the bottom part (or roll it INside if you are a certain kind of teenager and it was a certain kind of 80s decade) a mock turtleneck only goes up halfway, so no rolling over.

And don't even get me started about crew necks that have like 50 percent too much collar but not enough to be a mock turtleneck. The mock mock?

Next time on Jessamyn Explains: Dickeys.
posted by Chrysostom at 8:52 PM on May 10, 2019 [4 favorites]

So my wife has a uh... reverse dickey?* It is like the bottom part of a white tee shirt with elastic around the top and she wears it if she is wearing a short shirt or something and wants to be modest.

*forgive me
posted by Literaryhero at 10:48 PM on May 10, 2019 [1 favorite]

reverse dickey?

I can’t stop thinking about this term now. You are NO KIND of hero to me, Literaryhero; no forgiveness granted.

Jessamyn! I too can not see what is wrong or weird about the 60fps cartoon. It just looks....ok, and it ends too soon?

I shall enjoy listening even more now I can picture Jessamyn recording lounging on a day bed! Also until I heard Homo neanderthalensis’ user name read aloud I’ve been reading it in my head as Homo neanderthal.

If anyone likes Chesty A. Arthur, I got so many more you can have:
-Calvin Cleavage
-Herbert Hooters
-Actually I like Grover Cleavage better because of his two non-consecutive terms
-Warren Hard-on

Etc

-Warren Hard-on

Considering his philandering ways, I'm amazed Whorin' Harding never caught on.

Is it my speakers, or is Jessamyn a bit echoey in this audio?
