text entry keyboard shortcuts don't work in Phoenix 0.5 December 29, 2002 8:46 PM   Subscribe

MetaFilter's super-handy text entry keyboard shortcuts don't work in Phoenix 0.5 (a Mozilla-based browser) on Windows 2000.

The inability to bold with CTRL-SHIFT-B, etc., is a bummer.

Same story with Blogger's entry box. And, in fact the only other gross deviation from IE's behavior I've noted was also at Blogger, namely that the text entry box only filled a third of the pane it occupies.

Other than these things, I've been greatly impressed with Phoenix.

I searched the archives and found no mention of this with either Mozilla or Phoenix. I'm not a pro-grade web developer, so I can't tell if the fault lies with the browser or the sites.

They're not supposed to work in anything but IE, IIRC.

There's a long standing bug in mozilla that is going on over a year now. Once they fix that, I can finally add support for it on mozilla browsers.

Matt, wasn't there something you posted way back about a mozilla hack that adds a similar feature set to your toolbar?

sigh.

Oh, and I found one other site that looks weird, AsianVikingGirl.

Other than those exceptions, everything has been smooth.

I do miss me some keyboard shortcut action, though...

that site looks weird in IE6/Win2K too. then again, it's about hamsters.

My most-recent (and still old) post is about my Xmas tree. Does that make my site about trees? No. AVG is not about hamsters. It is about a whitty and smart person who lives in DC.
