i'll be having a combination road rally/hide and seek/mefi meetup this wednesday evening located here. i will be at that location sometime just prior to twilight. first one to find me gets a kiss, and the board game home version of our popular website blort.

spoilers: the north/south gravel road to the right of the image is named osbourne, or osborn, depending on which newaygo county road commission halfwit made the sign. osborn is a long road. don't bother looking south of the muskeon river. if you hit big star lake you went too far. off road trails don't strictly require 4WD but it is recommended.

I really think we need a visual way to see the pruning that has been done to our lovely trees. When Matt, benevolent gardener that he is, decides to delete a comment or edit a post (the general principle of which I agree completely), he should let us know that something has been done.

Just a tiny red asterisk would do it. That way, readers who wander in later on can see that changes were made and so the weird references to "self-post" or "ewww.. quonsar! Gross!" won't be so mysterious. It'd be even better if the red asterisk linked to the original post/comment in mefi.deleted.

I don't know what to say about deleted posts. I think that I'd rather not waste lines on the homepage with little red asterisks for each double post. So maybe it's inconsistent -- it'd still be good in the posts themselves.

I think zpousman's got a good idea there, folks. The whole Dave Winer vs Mark Pilgrim spat, while childish and petty, has convinced me that a relatively open editing process for weblogs--even huge community-type ones like MeFi--is a good thing.

(Although a red asterisk would look terrible against the Infamous Blue.)
