Well, a couple of us had cameras. Thanks in no small part to brownpau's mad wiki skillz, we had a pretty good turnout (10, I believe). The weather was nice, the overpriced drinks were flowing, a good time was had by all.

I posted the 14 pictures that actually turned out. They're on my Yahoo Photos page, but if anyone wants to mount them on a "real" website and spiffy them up, that would be great. I'll leave them up on the Yahoo page for a while, but I'll probably have to take them down eventually (I'll need to storage space to upload pictures from my upcoming honeymoon).

My ability to recall names is notoriously dicey, so the titles aren't very descriptive at the moment. Email me with any additions or corrections and I'll make the changes.

Thanks for a fun evening, everyone! Hopefully we can get together again sometime soon. I generally have the social skills of a warthog, and I tend to speak in gibberish around people I don't know all that well, but I promise I won't be so awkward next time.

While Ron heroically does battle with the giant squid making trouble on his yahoo page, I just wanted to say thanks to MrMoonPie for serving as the North Star for all lost and wandering MeFites who were actually able to get into the place (sorry, danO, while I was worried Gazuza might have a black shirt ban that would have been equally fatal for our group I didn't know how they felt about shorts, and I think you're not the only one that got stranded outside, dammit). PJgulliver, nortonindc, brownpau, and MrMoonPie were already there when I arrived, soon followed by tittergrrl and her brother, and Becky who made it after all (? yikes is that right? sorry!), and arco with camera, and a fun lurker pair that included Rene Zellweger lookalike Kayla (I apologize for my display of name suckage) and her London bound brother. Who did I forget, and what did I get wrong?

Anyway, I had lots of fun talking to you all and it's pretty cool to put faces and personalities with the names. We'll definitely have to do it again, at someplace that doesn't require pants. Well, after the whole "naked party" discussion, maybe not. The pants part, I mean. Re the other part, Brownpau is going to leave the wiki up for a while at least (thanks, Paulo!) so we might be able to post future meetup ideas there.

Okay, Yahoo Photos can officially bite it. dan has offered to host them at least temporarily. Thanks to everybody else who offered! I might still need your help. In the meantime, here's an Ofoto directory of them that will probably break immediately. (Warning: that links starts a slideshow in a separate window.) Or, I can email them to anyone (4 MB total; I can't zip them at work, sorry) if you really want to see them.

The funny thing is that I just happened to bump into him there. I hadn't asked him or anything, but.. I guess he knew which was the cooler sibling. Thats right. Me, baby. Me.

Good time. Next time hopefully somewhere a bit less loud (I had so much trouble hearing people, and I feel like I really didn't get to visit with some people very much :( ).

I like the idea of Buffalo Billiards, but they card also. Not sure about Atomic tho. That might be good. Big fan of the District Chophouse for meet ups too. Nice big lounge upstairs!

I still haven't recovered from pjgulliver's revelations about the bathroom habits of the rich and famous. Between that, the naked party with Barbara Bush Jr., and the secret society talk, I think pj gets the prize for most exciting conversational gambits. :)

NortonDC, I will send out an e-mail to all officially adding you to the list. For the record, I don't think you look at all like Ryan Stiles on the Drew Carey Show! At all!

I didn't really get to talk to tittergrrl (though I'm curious about the livejournal experiment), Red58, brownpau, or MrMoonPie. Or, inexplicably, even arco who was sitting right next to me. (I was avoiding the camera!) Next time: Less noise, more pants!

No, that shot was purely accidental. I had my camera (old Sony DSC P30) set to "low light" (slow shutter speed; that's also how I got the "ghost" shots) and tittergrrl took a picture at just the right moment. We didn't plan it at all. She'll probably post her side of it on her website.
