Navigation links to top? September 2, 2003 7:58 AM   Subscribe

Having the « Older... | ...Newer » links at the top of a thread [to the left of the date] as well as the bottom would be handy..?

OK, so I meant [to the right of the date]. I seem to be doing that a lot recently.

Mozilla/ Firebird (and maybe some other browsers too) provide previous/ next functionality right in the chrome so they're always accessible, regardless of where you are in a page.

yerfatma - really? Previous thread on a page? How does it work? Are you sure you don't just mean Back/Forward (which is not the same thing)?

Sure, I'm sure. Mozilla calls it the "Site Navigation Bar." View > Show/ Hide > Site Navigation Bar. I have it set to "View only as needed" or whatever it says. Firebird requires an extension.

If you're asking how it works, the magic is in the meta. Tags, that is:
<link rel="prev" href="/mefi/28017" title="comments on 28017" />
<link rel="next" href="/mefi/28019" title="comments on 28019" />

There's a lot you can do with LINK tags. Consult your local library for more.

Ah, thankyouthankyouthankyou yerfatma. I moved to firebird a couple weeks ago from mozilla and have been searching everywhere for that firebird extension.

I had the next/back links at the top in the past, below the post but before the first comment.

hmm, I just installed it and it rides down in my bottom right bar, is there any way to move it to the top like it is in mozilla?

thanks, yerfatma! That's cool, I had no idea.

I think there is. I don't have it installed at home (basically because I installed it at work and found I didn't like it sitting down there either), so I'll have to check tomorrow. Is there a dialog box in Tools > Options > Extensions for that extension? Otherwise you might scan about:config for anything that sounds plausible.

Nope. I got nothing.

It appears the timezone offset in MeTa disappeared though. Either that or I'm at work before 4:30. What dedication.
