I lived up around there as a young kid (until I was eleven) in a little town called Armstrong, which was semi-famous for it's delectable cheesees.

I recall doing "what race are you?" a long time ago. Or "how white are we?" whatever the case may have been.
I think this kind of question tends to stimulate the minority, who step forward to represent their interesting, possibly far-flung home, but may mistakenly result in the impression that the MeFi population is largely diverse and interesting (demographically). In other words, if you tally up all the responses in this thread, I bet you get a much more heterogeneous view of this population than represents reality.
I have yet to see a scientific study, but I'm guessing we're over 80% white american guys. That's 3400 people who have to step forward and say I'm wrong before it really proves anything.
Now what would be really interesting is a weight survey. We could cross-reference it with posting volume and see if anything interesting charts. posted by scarabic at 1:43 AM on March 16, 2004
